The Secret Strategy Driving Republicans Today

Scary Draconian Domininionists are trying to ruin America

Odds are, most Americans have never heard of Dominionism or Reconstructionism. This extreme form of Christianity is much more common than most realize, but as a general rule, most (not all) don’t publicly proclaim their radical religious views. Reconstructionists believe that Christians alone should control civil government, conducting it according to Biblical, not secular law. Two of Dominionism’s best known devotees are Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

This philosophy is not new to the American political scene. America was extremely affected by the fundamentalist Christians via George W. Bush, who favored faith-based programs and sought to deny schools funding if they taught anything but abstinence-only sex education. This theology gives an insight into the view of today’s GOP: a polarized Christian society where the poor are afforded no protection from the wealthy who can do as they please simply because of their financial stature. Bigotry, misogyny, and slavery are just a few of the Old Testament concepts embraced by these prominent Republicans.

The Dominionists seek to control the Seven Mountains of society which are: (1) Business; (2) Government; (3) Media; (4) Arts and Entertainment; (5) Education; (6) Family; and (7) Religion. If you can have control over these seven areas, you can shape and control whatever takes place in nations, and even the world. Just like the Old Testament dictates, women and foreigners are second class citizens and homosexuality is “sinful.” Most Dominionists are still sympathetic to the Civil War defeat of the Confederacy and see nothing wrong with human rights abuses in the Antebellum south.

Both Cruz and Paul along with RNC Chair Reince Priebus, were publicly blessed and anointed, with the laying-on of hands, by Dominionist Pastors, at the July 19th-20th 2013 Iowa Renewal Project pastors’ gathering held at the Des Moines Marriott Hotel. Cruz was labeled the de facto leader of the GOP and the October 1st shutdown showed the nation he is that influential. Their obsession with the acquisition of wealth is quite antithetical to that of their “Savior,” Jesus Christ.

The constitutionally mandated wall separating church and state is completely obliterated by Seven Mountain Dominionists. Designed to “bring the spoils of war to the priests”, thus helping to bring about a prophesied “great transfer of wealth”, from the “wicked” to righteous gentile believers, this morally bankrupt way of thinking and acting is justified by the supposition that it’s divinely mandated. These extremist theocrats actually believe they are chosen by god to impose their selfish agenda. Much like billionaire Sheldon Adelson and LDS Bishop, Willard Romney , these guys truly believe they are the Anointed Ones. You can be certain the obsession with the impending Rapture will ensure a type of governance where the consequences of inconsiderate behavior do not factor into policy decisions. Dominionist Michelle Bachmann has claimed we are in the End Times. A religious test was omitted intentionally by the Founding Fathers because they foresaw the dangers of mixing religion and politics. Ted Cruz and his devotees embody their worst fears!

Ted Cruz: The Intellectual Teapartier (and Other Oxymorons)

Everything about the TeaParty is not only antithetical to its stated purpose, but soaked in irony. With his faux filibuster, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Tx) displayed a level of conservative narcissism not seen since Family Ties, a sitcom which humorously portrayed a teenage Republican whose ambition rivaled the 1980’s Wall Street hero, Gordon Gekko. The Greed is Good concept was new and had yet to be associated with today’s massive income inequality whose seeds were sown during the 1980’s.

Social welfare, healthcare and workers’ rights were unpalatable to the Moral Majority and Reagan’s presidency marked the beginning of the end of the Middle Class. Unlike today’s society, where this economic group is almost an endangered species, we could poke fun at a selfishly capitalist conservative teen. In 2013, this would not only be unfunny, but offensive as well. Ted Cruz has embodied the worst traits of a group ruled by the id and unfettered by the superego. Millions of struggling Americans are facing Third World problems while TeaPartiers denounce them as lazy and undeserving. This is a party that believes it is ethical to take food out of poor children’s mouths while overcrowding ERs with millions of uninsured citizens. Often condoning religious dogma to supersede the teaching of science while denouncing equal rights legislation, the TeaParty is hell bent on returning to the Dark Ages. The fact this megalomaniac, Cruz is the head of this AstroTurf group shows just how insidious they are.

As impolite as it sounds, science-denying Teabaggers could aptly be called morons, but deeper analysis points to a new idea in governance: standing firmly on the principles of the oxymoron. The double entendre is the unintended consequence of Teaparty policies: gun safety, compassionate conservativism, Texas textbooks, and TeaParty intellectual. Ted and his fans are basically a group of “oxymorons” mismanaging government and holding the nation hostage. If the Founding Fathers represented the culmination of the Age of Enlightenment, this merry band of misanthropic malcontents are the denouement of democracy and the inception of anarchy. It’s funny how they claim to be patriots while being the most politically destructive force since slavery and the Confederacy in the mid-nineteenth century.

Gun Safety

Statistics show states with looser gun laws are far more deadly when it comes to firearm fatalities. Thanks to the NRA and their perversion of the 2nd Amendment,  sensible legislation is an impossibility.  True to form, the Canadian-born Rafael Cruz has championed all things harmful and dangerous, as his A+ NRA rating demonstrates. After a staggering number of mass shootings, Cruz continues his crusade to eliminate the most minuscule regulations, failing to protect the most common victims of gun accidents, children. Naturally, the idea of guns marketed for children is not at all surprising for a man who raved about Ashton Kutcher and Duck Dynasty in his 21 hour faux filibuster.  Cruz and his TeaParty terrorists have repeatedly legislated in favor of the death-machine manufacturers. Responsible gun ownership and safety is really just a way of justifying corporate profit over human lives.

Compassionate Conservatism

The GOP and its insanely right wing TeaParty claim to be the party of “Christ.”  The Golden Rule doesn’t apply to a Congress who voted to cut $4 billion per year from the very poor while granting millions in farm and oil subsidies.  Conservatives have hijacked a New Testament quote stating “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”  (Thessalonians 3:10)
to mean only those who work hard should eat, condemning children, the elderly and the handicapped.  Jesus preached tolerance and charity, according to the scriptures.  Selective charity is certainly not divine.  Ted Cruz, whose father is a minister, legislates contrary to the teachings of his god.  Ted idolizes the late Senator Jesse Helms who proposed eradicating the Equal Rights Amendment and was a huge racist.  Cruz actually said, we need 100 like Jesse Helms in the Senate. Shameful.

Texas Textbooks

Many of our public schools rely on textbooks printed, largely, in Texas.  This would not be a problem if Texas legislators, especially those favored by the TeaParty, weren’t concerned with changing history and science.  Not only have they sanitized history to rename the slave trade The Atlantic Triangular Trade, they also rename capitalism the free-enterprise system to mask the evils of a system based on exploitation of labor.  Texas also has inserted the ridiculously unscientific theory of Creationism to supplant the teaching of evolution.  The TeaParty is proud of religious mythology, so much so it is on a par with proven science.  The idea of any educational tools originating in a state so rooted in convoluted logic is as ridiculous as the TeaParty deciding anything of importance.

Teaparty Intellectual

When Cruz emerged on the national scene as a member of the 112th Congress, he was a rare find, an Ivy League-educated debate champion. Bragging about the Libertarian principles he so espouses, he has moved the party so far right, no possible compromise could ever be reached. Thanks to this intellectual we are literally minutes from the first government shutdown since 1995, a move denounced by many prominent members of his party. Taking the hard line, ‘if you fail to defund Obamacare we will not agree to any budget deal’, is not a popular stance among the more moderates like Rep Tom Cole (R-OK) and Rep Peter King (R-NY) who are willing to compromise with the occasional sane members of the GOP. Ted Cruz has a very unsavory reputation which leaves many unhappy with his techniques of intimidation to pass his extremist ideology. Senator John Cain referred to Cruz as a f@&kin dick which was the most endearing statement to emerge from McCain in quite some time.

Paralleling the infamous Joe McCarthy with Senator Cruz not just in political paranoia, but actual physical resemblance makes this guy even more appropriate as the leader of a political hate group disguised as anything but. So now, as I finish this article, the federal government is officially closed. This petulant toddler of a Senator has achieved a shameful milestone in TeaParty obstructionist history.

Update: October 17th, the government is open, Teabagger-incurred crisis averted but with a severe blemish. Teaparty-Americans were able to provide another oxymoron. They were protesting the closure of national monuments with the folks who closed the government, while donning Confederate flags. It almost makes your head spin.

If You Are A Republican, You Cannot Be Pro-Life

There will always be a strong anti-abortion movement amongst those who view themselves as god-fearing, Jesus-loving Americans. In fact, the Republican/TeaParty-led House has proposed 41 abortion-prohibitive bills as they view abortion as an affront to the sanctity of life principles they hold so dear; or so they’d like us to think. Being Pro-Life means one must advocate for ALL life, not just unborn fetuses. Most fundamentalist Christians and followers of the teachings of Jesus have forgotten the Golden Rule. Their morals are shaped by a deity that serves corporations and the wealthy who would have a harder time entering the Kingdom of Heaven than a camel passing through the eye of a needle. Narrowing down the ways the GOP violates the teachings of Jesus and the rights of humanity to a simple article is nearly impossible. I will briefly list what I feel are the most obvious contradictions of the Republican Party Platform.

20130817-084214.jpg

You cannot be pro-life and support the death penalty or support, advocate for, or participate in war. In summary, killing is wrong if you are PRO life. Period. You cannot be a man of god like Mike Huckabee and advocate for the hunting of Democrats. A successful hunt means something has to be killed, and a Democrat is a human being and fellow American. Nugent-Huckabee are not only misanthropic but very unpatriotic. Southern states especially have more people who identify themselves as Christians. Coincidentally, these states, like Texas, execute a disproportionate number of minorities. Being a proponent of numerous executions like Governor Perry negates a pro-life agenda and violates the teachings of Jesus.

You cannot oppose gender equality. Women cannot be treated like sinful beings with less value than men. Violence against women should not be overlooked, as if often is. Norfolk, Virginia recently overturned a long time policy where it was assumed the victim is lying. With matters of sexual assault, only 6% of cases are proven false. No woman wants that degree of scrutiny and shame without provocation. Women have also suffered income inequality, been downplayed to subservient status by religion, and continue to be “slut-shamed” by the GOP plutocracy. Without full gender equality, pro-life only means pro-male life.

You cannot oppose the idea of healthcare for all while advocating for loosely controlled gun laws that endanger American lives every day. America is quite uncharacteristic for a Western nation where a vocal portion of our citizens feel guns are a right and healthcare is a privilege. Most industrialized nations have effective, strict gun control legislation and provide their citizenry with essential healthcare while the USA ranks 38th worldwide. Ron Paul’s supporters cheered when he failed to denounce the idea of letting people die if they can’t afford healthcare at a GOP debate. Only permitting the fortunate to access healthcare seems awfully antithetical to a pro-life agenda. Proving they are against helping the poor, the GOP voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act forty times! The GOP has also vetoed veterans benefits and first responders’ compensation, showing no compassion for those who have sacrificed for their country.

You cannot oppose a livable, minimum wage. Federal minimum wage is only $7.25 an hour, or only $15,080 a year for a full-time worker. That’s more than $8,000 below the federal poverty line for a family of four. The minimum wage for tipped workers currently stands at only $2.13 an hour — the same as it was over 20 years ago. After Republican-led state governments slash funding for the victims of these insulting wages by cutting SNAP and other welfare programs, they ask these struggling Americans to pull themselves up by their bootstraps while defunding public education thus making that whole concept non-utilitarian and unachievable. Economist and talk show host, Thom Hartmann brilliantly advocates for the benefits of raising the minimum wage to a livable level.

Lastly, you cannot advocate, support, or passively tolerate economic policies which oppress the poor, minorities, or any other marginalized group. Hateful policies like those of conservative dinosaur Phyllis Schlafly only serve to portray the GOP as an unbelievably callous, inhumane group of monsters with no compassion for those escaping a life of dire poverty to settle here in the USA. When the GOP 2012 debate candidates mentioned ways of making the border as treacherous as possible and treating undocumented immigrants with cruelty, the crowd cheered in a very disturbing manner. The GOP has proven and continues to prove how truly misanthropic they are. If one is for the life of the unborn, they should also advocate for the life of every living being as well. Jesus preached forgiveness, tolerance and love. The current Republican party fails to include these principles in their legislation and modus operandi.

How a Dark Past and Radical Racism Continue to Dominate the GOP

Americans for Prosperity, Freedomworks, the Tea Party Movement are organizations funded by very dark money. The name Koch is highly revered in conservative circles but most people either don’t know or don’t care how this family has risen to the prominence only billions of dollars can procure.

20130725-094555.jpg
No longer trying to hide their racism, Teabaggers openly scorn African-Americans

The benefactor of organizations that have terrorized America for decades is none other than Fred Koch , the original financier of the John Birch Society. In the 1950’s, Koch and his ultra-right wing organization preached of the evils of Socialism and its inclusivity of unions, homosexuals, colored people, Jews and moderate Republicans like President Eisenhower. In typical hypocritical GOP fashion, Koch railed against communism while making his fortune exporting oil technology to Josef Stalin’s Soviet Union in the 1920’s. Fred Koch believed the colored man looms large in the Communist plan to take over America. Hypocrisy is too mild a term for these monsters of mendacious manipulation. .

John Birch is not the only hate group (labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center) with which the Kochs have entangled their tentacles. The Oath Keepers, who often appear in tandem with the Heritage Foundation and John Birch Society, openly sponsored the very first GOP Presidential Debate in far-right wing heaven, South Carolina. Former President Clinton described the Oath Keepers as a “hatriot” group that embraces the same violent rhetoric that fueled Timothy McVeigh. The GOP’s War on Terror always neglects to include their own hate groups, who always stress “States’ Rights” over federal government statutes, much like the Antebellum South. Specifically, the fifth tenet of the racist organization asserts: ‘We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union.’

20130726-092617.jpg
South Carolina’s Teaparty Governor and Koch Puppet, Nikki Haley

Teabaggers desperate to focus the GOP on barbaric chauvinist policies about women and white superiority are literally dismantling their own party by primarying candidates once deemed ultra-conservative, like Kentucky’s Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell. Supporters of challenger Matt Bevin have actually called McConnell a progressive liberal.

Their obvious distaste for non-whites has been painfully obvious, now more than ever. Supporters of Representative Steve King of Iowa have literally slapped DREAM Act supporters and immigrants alike so offensively, it may be impossible to win the hearts and minds of anyone of Latino descent in America ever again. They most assuredly deserve not a single vote from that segment of our population.

Voter suppression, kowtowing to the NRA and laws essentially turning women into livestock who have no other function than to pump out kids help create a society where the cycle of poverty and violence is impossible to break. Privatizing education so only the wealthy can afford decent schooling keeps the masses dumb enough (to vote GOP) and this is another facet of the Koch brothers’ diabolical scheme to create a 1% Utopia. Replacing public schools with charter schools and vouchers like the privatization of prisons, offers yet another opportunity for big corporations to get their hands into public coffers and earn a hefty profit.

20130726-094729.jpg
The Scope of ALEC/Koch corporations is massive

With Citizen’s United permitting corporations to contribute ungodly sums of money to fund puppet candidates like Matt Bevin, the insidiously racist Koch Brothers, ALEC and their personal Supreme Court Justices can dupe untold numbers of ignorant voters to do their bidding.

Teabaggers deny they are racists, but when 99% of the group is white and they rail against the first African American president for imagined transgressions before he set his administration’s policies, it is impossible to see them as anything but racists. The Teaparty embodies racism to this day and the John Birchers and Koch adherents demonstrate that a large segment of society has been programmed to believe the white race is superior to Blacks, Latinos, and Asians. Until whites are outnumbered more significantly, we can not combat the conservative gerrymandering that keeps Congress so obstructionist and clearly misogynist and hate-motivated. Without an enthused and educated electorate, the Koch family will continue to annihilate the poor and middle class. Their sociopathic past guarantees a very bleak future.

Make Up Your Minds, Myopic Firearm Fetishists!

For years Democrats took unwarranted guff from Conservatives for how they appeared “weak on defense.” Trying to find diplomatic solutions rather than to wage preemptive war was certainly not going to make those in the business of war very successful. When Reagan finagled the release of the hostages to magically coincide with his inauguration in 1981, his neo-con cohorts duped the nation into believing Republicans exclusively could maintain a competent US military. A more insidious motive of paying for their release in a clandestine agreement was the true reason for freeing the hostages, not simply the election of President Reagan, but the serendipitous timing. During much of the 80’s, the arms race was in full swing, and no armament expense was too great. Thus, our military escalated by 43% during the Reagan Administration alone. Increases by subsequent GOP administrations have been even more obscene when compared to every other nation on earth. “Saint Ronnie” has continued to be the messiah of the RNC Convention every four years, and until they implode from abject stupidity, he will be the GOP standard bearer, ad infinitum.

Here’s why: In his two terms as President, Reagan cut the budgets of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (by 40%), the Department of Commerce (by 32%), the Department of Agriculture (by 24%), the Department of Education (by 19%), and the Department of Transportation (by 18%). He never cut the budgets for the Departments of Defense, Justice, or State. The GOP has little use for education, so he was an effective proponent for keeping America ignorant enough to vote against their own better interests. His “government IS the problem” mantra went straight down the toilet with his massive escalation of the SIZE of the federal government. The federal debt was $994 billion when he took office in 1981, and grew to $2.9 trillion when his second term ended in 1989. These obvious inconsistencies between conservative philosophy and actual policies are conveniently omitted from right wing historical accounts. Reality has a well known liberal bias as Fox News viewers are reminded constantly.

20130113-115243.jpg

With the recent sequestration cuts proposed, Republican Congressional proponents of excessive and wasteful military spending are once again resorting to their fear mongering tactics. Any instrument of destruction, public or private, should have few restrictions according to these misanthropic miscreants. As a party, they’ve been very consistent in assuring our military is far and away the most extravagantly financed force on the planet, even coercing Democrats to fall for their chicken hawkishness. Liberals and Conservatives agree, we are, without a doubt, the greatest military force on earth and few cuts, if any, have been made to the military budgets. (Bush/Cheney did manage to cut the funding on adequate body armor and helmets, but no defense contractors lost a dime).

The irony here is this: Americans know how technologically advanced our military is, yet continue to demand their own personal arsenals to defend themselves from a tyrannical government as if it’s anything but an exercise in futility. So if we try to ban someone’s modified semi-automatic weapon with a high capacity clip, they actually believe they will no longer be able to overtake a Seal Team Six-like force that may descend on their house, after thorough, surreptitious drone surveillance has been conducted? Really?

Maybe video games aren’t as big a problem as Chuck Norris and Die Hard movies are in creating a delusional fantasy culture. Why not? Obviously, man has believed a talking snake, a talking burning bush and a giant boat filled with every species on earth (even those wood eating termites behaved themselves) could co-exist and perpetuate life, so why not make every mullet-sporting vigilante believe he or she is a superhero in their own right?

For years, Republican rule, wrought with incompetent foreign and domestic policy blunders, were never rife with so many who have a fervent need to “take up arms” against our (pre-Maoist) government. Before President Obama, there was an unspoken trust in our government, undeserved as it certainly proved to be. Nonetheless, these Freemen types were largely silent during the Bush years. Rising to a level of prominence not previously seen are these extremist reactionaries like the now remorsefulJames Yeager and the infamous Alex Jones. Yeager had to recant his wild threats: …”and earlier this week I made a pretty inflammatory video. Hindsight being 20-20 I shouldn’t have said some of the things I said, of course. And I just want to reiterate to everyone that it’s not time to shoot anybody.” Sure you don’t, Yeager. You seem like such a stable, sincere guy.

It’s too late for your attorney-coerced apologies I’m afraid. The cat’s out of the bag and your broadcasted instability is merely a glimpse into the larger problem. The proliferation of massive arsenals, ample ammo stashes and the recent calls for armed insurrection validates the thought processes which dominated the Cold War Arms Race. Plotting to “take out” your own democratically elected government is akin to the very treason the Founding Fathers designed the Second Amendment to PREVENT!

Survivalists, doomsday-preppers and street vigilantes are desperately trying to combat an epically well-armed and funded government military. However, this military and the government who manages it has yet to pose any threat remotely resembling Mao, Stalin, Hitler or Chavez. But they’ll do their damnedest to make you believe this convoluted nonsense is the truth.

Gun Appreciation Day Perpetuates Violence and Paranoid Dystopia

20130110-093341.jpg

In order to completely disrespect every family who is currently grieving over the loss of a family member, (a child in particular) to gun violence, the Council on Promoting Gun Violence and Exploiting the Dead (my embellishment) has decided, in their infinite paranoia, to declare Saturday, January 19th “Gun Appreciation Day.” to be ironic, these fine folks chose the very weekend we celebrate the birth of a champion of non-violence, MLK. These people, who clearly pervert the Second Amendment, must make certain if any crazed, violent loon has the inclination, he or she has access to as much ammunition and high-powered weaponry as they so desire.

The number of people in America killed by firearms is extraordinary compared to other nations. If we’re not a bloodthirsty culture, as wars seldom reach our shores, we need to look at everything we can do to safeguard our people. These gun rights rather than human rights advocates clearly have a violent, profit-driven agenda in mind.

General Stanley McChrystal, a member of our conservative armed forces said, “we need to take a look at why we’d even consider allowing these (military-style assault weapons) in our society… I personally don’t think there’s any need for that kind of weaponry on the streets, and particularly around the schools in America,” McChrystal continued. “I believe that we’ve got to take a serious look. I understand everybody’s desire to have whatever they want, but we’ve got to protect our children, we’ve got to protect our police and we’ve got to protect our population. And I think we’ve got to take a very mature look at that.”

Prominent leaders’ assassinations have been the catalyst for legislative action via public outrage in our past. The 1960’s were a volatile time where we lost some of America’s greatest leaders to senseless gun violence. Martin Luther King was fatally shot by sniper’s bullet on April 4, 1968. Death was the result of a horrific gunshot wound (to the chin and neck with a fatal transection of the lower cervical and upper thoracic spinal cord and other structures in the neck), a violent end to a life of noble purpose. Just two months later, RFK was also taken out by an assassin with a gun. The nation’s hopes and dreams for peace died right along with him.

The Johnson Administration passed new gun control measures, reasonable means to minimize tragic shootings, without denying Second Amendment “rights.” Johnson’s bill banned all mail-order and out-of-state sales of handguns, shotguns and rifles; prohibited the sale of guns to minors; and required national registration of all guns and licensing of all gun owners. No reasonable citizen could argue these measures were, and still are, very logical. Unfortunately reason, logic and mental health are sadly lacking from so many who pervert the second amendment to mean they should own as many military-style automatic weapons as they can fit in their closets next to their Confederate memorabilia and Hank Williams Jr. concert shirts.

Johnson’s words were as apropos then as they are today.

“The voices that blocked these safeguards were not the voices of an aroused nation. They were the voices of a powerful gun lobby, a gun lobby, that has prevailed for the moment in an election year. . . . We have been through a great deal of anguish these last few months and these last few years – too much anguish too forget so quickly. So now we must complete the task which this long needed legislation begins.”

Somehow reason prevailed and we were able to pass some common sense safety measures.

During Vietnam War protests, outrageous gun violence was an issue compromised mainly of police brutality. The incident at Kent State, May 4, 1970 focused our gun injustices on our police and authorities’ lack of restraint. The number of massacres at the hands of police, however, pales in comparison to the carnage of all the mass shootings we’ve experienced in the last twenty years. The gun lobbyists claim violent video games, lack of prayer and lack of universal gun ownership are more to blame than the easy acquisition of high-powered firearms which they proliferate at thousands of gun shows .

The NRA has immense political power, and associates themselves with unsavory, paranoid lunatics like Alex Jones and the Chairman of National Gun Appreciation Day, Larry Ward. Their type of manufactured dystopian hysteria creates a culture more concerned with contrived future scenarios than the problem of constant gun massacres. This is evidenced by comparisons of President Obama to Chairman Mao, Stalin and Hitler. Generally, once Hitler is used as a reference, proponents of such absurdity have lost their argument and their minds.

There is utter disbelief expressed by ALL wealthy, industrialized nations looking upon us in horror at this manageable problem. We wanted fewer deaths from drunk driving, and voila, in just thirty years we’ve lowered fatalities by 50% with movements such as M.A.D.D. We raised the legal drinking age and sure enough, death rates fell. Since so many of these crimes are perpetrated by people in their twenties, maybe closely scrutinizing gun ownership by this demographic would be a great way to start.

With the recent unfathomable carnage of Newtown and Aurora, I’m hopeful the level of outrage has reached a tipping point. A recent Newtown visit by Gabby Giffords and husband, Mark Kelly has, once again, exposed the fringe element in the NRA-owned GOP. The Facebook exchange below shows just how convoluted their thinking has become.

20130110-085507.jpg

You can’t engage a cross-section of your acquaintances without running into one or two quintessential “Obama is coming for our guns” morons. If we lessen the exposure and power of these paranoid miscreants, we may be able to make assault rifles and the proliferation of arsenals by the deranged as unfashionable as the Jim Crow South. The only way we’ve successfully conquered opposing forces clinging to outdated and inhumane policies is by collectively expressing our desire for change and forcing legislators to LEGISLATE SANITY!
