Not One Law Republicans Passed Has Helped America In Over Forty Years

The GOP is against any positive progress for America
The GOP is against any positive progress for America

December 2, 1970 was the last time a Republican created something that benefits the greater good of society. Seriously, it’s been over forty years since any Republican has successfully enacted legislation that is based on scientific data, also known as reality. Richard M. Nixon created the EPA in 1970 which marks the last time the party behaved responsibly by utilizing data from climate scientists and attempting to clean up our environment.  Their actions ever since have been an attempt to pollute indiscriminately.

Everything the GOP stands for is rooted in religiously-based discrimination of some sort.  Whether they are quashing the rights of women, the poor and minorities or relinquishing the rights to drink clean water and breathe healthy air, the GOP is always on the wrong side of history. They claim trickle down economics is the magical way the job-creator fairies instinctively share their wealth. Profit-gorging corporations care only about their coveted bottom line: earnings for the shareholders. They are not concerned with the middle class, as companies like Walmart have created the working poor as the new normal. The laws they’ve passed are unimaginably awful.

On April 1, 2014 the Supreme Court handed corporations unlimited political power by cementing the idea that more money equals more speech. The five conservative Justices in the Supreme Court have ruled twice in favor of selling our democracy to the highest bidder. Money equals speech, (and)  some people have more speech than others. It codifies oligarchy. It creates a free speech caste system. The highest bidder is also, unfortunately, the most rooted in theological doctrine supplanting a secular constitutional government.  Chief Justice Roberts actually said: Ingratiation and access … are not corruption,” he wrote, quoting Citizens United.  Bribery, in other words, has no impact on a legislator’s actions.  Because no one has ever succumbed to bribery, right, Scalia?

Biblical Creationism is favored over scientific evolution. Mandatory prayer and religious mottos like In God We Trust are proudly displayed in secular institutions like public schools.   Mississippi’s Governor Bryant, enlightened by Old Testament-driven hate, is making it legal to discriminate against homosexuals openly! Other Red States are desperately trying to sanction laws very similar to those in Russia, who proudly boast of their anti-gay propaganda.  There is actually a Minnesota candidate who has gotten into politics to ensure his daughter doesn’t have to learn about that alarmingly factual scientific theory of evolution, which has no place in the Biblical book of fantasy (which is the basis of all Republican legislation).   If you look at the campaign the Republicans have launched against the scientific community’s consensus on the dire nature of man-made climate change, you’ll see a concerted effort to shun reality and promulgate illogical fantasy like that in the Bible.

Without even touching on the denial of racism and sexism, one can see very clearly how rooted in fantasy and lies the Republican platform has become.  It is fashionable to disregard evidence, fact and data to promote the agendas of large corporations who care nothing for the citizens of this country.  With 5/9 of the Supreme Court on board to sanction deception to the American people, we are truly in a situation where everyone MUST pay attention or our country will go the way of theocracies like Afghanistan.  Income inequality will only worsen as our situation on this planet becomes more perilous with increasing weather disasters. Politics is local, and electing Democrats who are not religious shamans would be a great step in the right direction in this 2014 election year.

Duplicitous GOP Wants Women To Work Full Time While Staying Home To Raise The Kidsp

20140216-142517.jpg

Less than one year ago, Lou Dobbs and Erick Erickson vehemently asserted how important it is for family stability that the woman stay home and raise the kids. Dobbs stated: three-quarters of the people surveyed recognize that having moms as the primary breadwinner is bad for kids and bad for marriage, and reality shows us that’s the truth. In 2009, the Blue Eyed Snidely Whiplash Lookalike, Rep. Paul Ryan derided the idea of job lock where one’s healthcare is irrevocably tied to one’s employment. So the GOP seems like they’re in agreement about the importance of worker freedom and the flexibility of a job to meet everybody’s needs in America, right?

A logical-thinking person would presume the GOP wants nothing more than to preserve the traditional family and provide Americans the choice of working only if it is needed to support the family financially. Work should not be tied to the healthcare of a person, except when the Black President decides upon a policy that gives people that freedom. When you consider the degree of racism in the party, it is not surprising the GOP managed to flip flop their entire world view when the President’s signature healthcare law went into effect. Not unlike the “subtle” racist undertones of the Teaparty or the composition of Florida juries for cases where a black teenager is gunned down for no good reason, the GOP can’t help but loathe everything the African-American President supports. Even if they once applauded the Heritage Foundation’s corporatist model of insurance company-based healthcare, the moment the President passed the law, the entire party has been on a mission to destroy it. Any law that helps women, especially minority women, must be neutralized as economic mobility is taboo to the Patriarchal-White-Christian-Male-Republican America.

Preexisting conditions are no longer keeping Americans, especially those near or beyond retirement age, bound to jobs solely for the purpose of maintaining health coverage. This opens up jobs for the younger workforce who have higher rates of unemployment. Eliminating job lock provides folks the option of choosing to remain in the workforce, retiring or finally starting that entrepreneurial venture they’ve dreamt about.

The CBO has concluded Obamacare (the ACA) would cost 2.5 million jobs, and this phrase was immediately exploited by the GOP Senate. The agency (actually) said that some Americans would choose to stop working or work less because of the law. Naturally, the Conservative media falsely tied the idea of freedom in the workplace to a loss of jobs and more lazy Americans on welfare. Republicans want a polarized society with an oligarchy of mega-rich corporate owners with a system of labor barely discernible from indentured servitude. According to these misanthropes, it is perfectly acceptable to distribute healthcare based on employment and social status. The pursuit of happiness is only applicable if you are healthy or fortunate enough to afford it. American women should most certainly do something about this disgraceful party during the 2014 midterms.

Religious Nuttery and Political Hypocrisy: Crazy Teapartiers

These are dark times indeed. To punish America for having the audacity to elect a black man TWICE, the GOP will try to deliberately ruin America’s economy. The Democrats are pragmatically trying to avoid economic disaster while Republicans sing funeral songs like Amazing Grace praying instead of governing. Senator Ted Cruz still believes shutting down the government was a good idea. Their abject hypocrisy and ignorance are stunning.

It was rare for a person to surface who embodies the appalling hypocrisy of a self-proclaimed “god-fearing” man and the deliberate ignorance of the “Christian” homeschool movement. The Reagan plan to defund the crap out of education is coming to fruition. There’s now a whole generation of ignoramuses. A consortium of this type of cretin has created the 113th Congress, a willfully ignorant group who vociferously oppose reason, logic and facts. These self-important monsters could easily topple our great nation if we don’t expose their insidious objectives. Governing by crisis is the chosen method of these TeaParty troublemakers. They exist only to serve their gigantic corporation CEOs. The most noteworthy of these asshats is Greg Collett, a devout Mormon from the great state of Idaho, who is running for state office in 2014.

20131018-110813.jpg

Clearly, anyone who is a staunch member of the Teaparty has obvious contradictions abound. The grassroots organization is funded by hate groups like The Heritage Foundation, who want to take our country “back” from that Black guy who dared to win two presidential elections. Collett goes a bit further. Obviously a Romney supporter, Greg prohibits his children from consuming GMOs, the signature products of Bain Capital’s Monsanto, a company Romney helped make into the industry giant it is today. Collett proclaims, “I avoid all refined sugars and corn syrup, enriched flour products and other processed foods, GMO products, and foods that have unpronounceable ingredients”. Naturally, he won’t research who’s responsible for assailing our population with these harmful products. This is common for Teapartiers; they rail against things they don’t quite understand. That’s why this man hates government. He doesn’t understand it.

Government is force, and using government to force men to do good works takes away the agency of man. When government is used to take money from one citizen and give it to another (even for a seemingly good cause) it simply amounts to legal plunder, making government, and those that support it, the criminal.

Like 20% of Idahoans, Greg Collett is a staunch advocate of homeschooling, as there’s just not enough Brigham Young in our history. An educated populace whose curriculum is decided by anyone but the Teaparty Right Wing is their biggest enemy. Even though the Heritage Foundation and Romneycare comprise the basic format of “Obamacare,” the Teaparty cannot support it because their racist objection to all President Obama’s policies coerces them to take drastic action to oppose it.

In Collett’s mind, government is bad and only the LDS Church can force people to be kind. His ten children are expensive to care for. Collett’s kids are all on Medicaid. But he opposes government interference with healthcare. He believes our government is far too secular and his interpretation of the supernatural should be adopted by all. Of course he throws in concepts like tyranny, children are a heritage from god, ending funding for public education, Communist Manifesto, and the jewel of all, ‘I am against National Parks, but I visit them.’ This is a dangerously stupid man who throws out red meat for the Teaparty base.

Greg Collett is running again in 2014 for the position A, district 11 of the Idaho House. He’s lost twice before, receiving 25% of the vote in 2010 and 34% in 2012. The public should be outraged anyone with such a convoluted worldview could possibly win an election. The views he has stated reveal he thinks we live in a theocracy, rather than a democracy. It’s unfathomable how anyone –be they Mormon, Lutheran, Catholic, Hindu, Jew, Muslim, Buddist, agnostic, or atheist– could vote for this lunatic. The Teaparty has undoubtedly shown how they revile government and will do anything to sabotage the institution.

LDS zealots like Collett and unstable, narcissistic Dominionists like Ted Cruz have proclaimed God tells them how to legislate. Ironically, they protest vehemently against Islamist theocratic regimes while behaving exactly like these misogynist lunatics. These people must be stopped, as they are the ones who shred the Constitution at every opportunity.

How a Dark Past and Radical Racism Continue to Dominate the GOP

Americans for Prosperity, Freedomworks, the Tea Party Movement are organizations funded by very dark money. The name Koch is highly revered in conservative circles but most people either don’t know or don’t care how this family has risen to the prominence only billions of dollars can procure.

20130725-094555.jpg
No longer trying to hide their racism, Teabaggers openly scorn African-Americans

The benefactor of organizations that have terrorized America for decades is none other than Fred Koch , the original financier of the John Birch Society. In the 1950’s, Koch and his ultra-right wing organization preached of the evils of Socialism and its inclusivity of unions, homosexuals, colored people, Jews and moderate Republicans like President Eisenhower. In typical hypocritical GOP fashion, Koch railed against communism while making his fortune exporting oil technology to Josef Stalin’s Soviet Union in the 1920’s. Fred Koch believed the colored man looms large in the Communist plan to take over America. Hypocrisy is too mild a term for these monsters of mendacious manipulation. .

John Birch is not the only hate group (labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center) with which the Kochs have entangled their tentacles. The Oath Keepers, who often appear in tandem with the Heritage Foundation and John Birch Society, openly sponsored the very first GOP Presidential Debate in far-right wing heaven, South Carolina. Former President Clinton described the Oath Keepers as a “hatriot” group that embraces the same violent rhetoric that fueled Timothy McVeigh. The GOP’s War on Terror always neglects to include their own hate groups, who always stress “States’ Rights” over federal government statutes, much like the Antebellum South. Specifically, the fifth tenet of the racist organization asserts: ‘We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union.’

20130726-092617.jpg
South Carolina’s Teaparty Governor and Koch Puppet, Nikki Haley

Teabaggers desperate to focus the GOP on barbaric chauvinist policies about women and white superiority are literally dismantling their own party by primarying candidates once deemed ultra-conservative, like Kentucky’s Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell. Supporters of challenger Matt Bevin have actually called McConnell a progressive liberal.

Their obvious distaste for non-whites has been painfully obvious, now more than ever. Supporters of Representative Steve King of Iowa have literally slapped DREAM Act supporters and immigrants alike so offensively, it may be impossible to win the hearts and minds of anyone of Latino descent in America ever again. They most assuredly deserve not a single vote from that segment of our population.

Voter suppression, kowtowing to the NRA and laws essentially turning women into livestock who have no other function than to pump out kids help create a society where the cycle of poverty and violence is impossible to break. Privatizing education so only the wealthy can afford decent schooling keeps the masses dumb enough (to vote GOP) and this is another facet of the Koch brothers’ diabolical scheme to create a 1% Utopia. Replacing public schools with charter schools and vouchers like the privatization of prisons, offers yet another opportunity for big corporations to get their hands into public coffers and earn a hefty profit.

20130726-094729.jpg
The Scope of ALEC/Koch corporations is massive

With Citizen’s United permitting corporations to contribute ungodly sums of money to fund puppet candidates like Matt Bevin, the insidiously racist Koch Brothers, ALEC and their personal Supreme Court Justices can dupe untold numbers of ignorant voters to do their bidding.

Teabaggers deny they are racists, but when 99% of the group is white and they rail against the first African American president for imagined transgressions before he set his administration’s policies, it is impossible to see them as anything but racists. The Teaparty embodies racism to this day and the John Birchers and Koch adherents demonstrate that a large segment of society has been programmed to believe the white race is superior to Blacks, Latinos, and Asians. Until whites are outnumbered more significantly, we can not combat the conservative gerrymandering that keeps Congress so obstructionist and clearly misogynist and hate-motivated. Without an enthused and educated electorate, the Koch family will continue to annihilate the poor and middle class. Their sociopathic past guarantees a very bleak future.

GWB: Governing While Black: How It Drives the Racists Insane

As Susan Rice is settling in to her National Security Advisor position, I am reminded of the stark disparity of respect the NSA Bush appointee received versus President Obama’s chosen advisor. When Condoleezza Rice held this coveted, powerful position from 2001-2005, the white president Bush 43 received virtually no opposition, outrage or controversy vis a vis Ms. Rice. Incidentally, Condi was the NSA while the worst terrorist attack on American soil occurred. As a pivotal player in the Bush Crime Family, she too is guilty of war crimes which include sanctioning torture. If anyone earned a fair amount of scorn, it’s Condi Rice. However, the GOP views her as a hero, begging and pleading her to run for the White House. As a Black Republican, she joins the likes of self-loathing African-Americans whose policies stab their fellow countrymen in the back while acting as puppets to the White Republican majority in the party. In fact, a movie critic of Django Unchained likened the villainous character played by Samuel L. Jackson to SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas.

Up until the early 1960’s, African Americans, including MLK aligned themselves with the GOP because the Dixiecrats, A.K.A. Southern Democrats adopted a states’ rights segregationist platform. We all know what they became: the current racist, sexist crazies of the GOP, feebly attempting to court voters by relying on fear, religion and shameless gerrymandering to grasp at the last straws of power in a losing demographic shift against the GOP.

Since the onset of the Obama Presidency, any prominent African American has received an unprecedented amount of criticism and scrutiny, so much so as to force several competent appointees to retire from service.

New NSA and Former UN Ambassador Susan Rice

The Right Wing pounced all over the Benghazi Consulate attacks as a massive scandal of Herculean proportions, pinning blame on then Ambassador Susan Rice who simply delivered the briefing she received from the CIA. Her alleged omission of the term terrorist attack put Senator Lindsey Graham (and his troika, McCain and Ayotte) right on his fainting couch with a bad case of the vapors. Then Secretary of State Clinton testified masterfully and put these frivolous claims to rest, but Ambassador Rice had to withdraw her name from consideration to replace the outgoing Mrs. Clinton as her successor. Fortunately, President Obama had the last laugh as the NSA position perhaps wields more power than the Secretary of State. The NSA position, incidentally, required no Congressional approval.

20130613-000234.jpg
“Whistleblower” Ed Snowden

African American Attorney General Eric Holder, as recently as last week was urged to resign by both Democrats like Senator Manchin of West Virginia and Republican loudmouth Peter King of New York. So what’s the reason for such a devastatingly contemptuous suggestion? Have we ever seen an Attorney General so maligned as Eric Holder?

We’ve seen desperate attempts at creating fake scandals such as the IRS brouhaha over scrutinization of Teabaggers who certainly deserved dissection over their social welfare tax-exempt status. As recently as June 11, Texas Representative Ted Poe called the NSA’s surveillance issue government spooks drunk on power, both deriding blacks with a not-so-thinly-veiled attempt at overt racism while simultaneously suddenly finding fault with a program they overwhelmingly supported under GWB, aka Bush 43.

Never before has a whistleblower (Snowden) who intentionally leaked classified info been given a pass as some patriot while behaving like a self-aggrandizing media whore who relies on the shady likes of Glenn Greenwald to lend credibility to his nothing to see here proclamations. We’ve known this has been going on since 9-11-2001, so this revelation is nothing more than a cheap stunt to get Greenwald the attention he so craves. As far as the Right Wing Media is concerned, all this surveillance was just fine and dandy back in 2006. However, notice an almost bipolar attitude change from Fox News’ always inflammatory Sean Hannity.

The Supreme Court is ruling on Section 5 of The Voting Rights Act of 1965 and it is widely known that Chief Justice John Roberts has been itching to dismantle this protection for racially discriminated, poorer minorities in areas having an ugly history of past violations of ethical voting practices. States like Texas, Alabama and Mississippi are prominently featured in this category. Ever since Roberts was a clerk for then President Reagan in 1982, he has worked to remove this statute of the 14th Amendment. If Chief Justice Roberts has his way, the country will take one giant step backwards in the direction of racist Teabaggers who will disenfranchise those who dare to vote while being Black or a minority in Republican strongholds. Stay tuned for the decision on Monday, June 17. Actually, it looks like we’ll be waiting until the last possible day before SCOTUS goes on recess. This just makes anyone interested in equal rights a bit more on edge.

UPDATE: 6/25/2013. Section 4 is officially gone. Chalk up a victory for racism to flourish in the South. No check on questionable election practices now.

Murder, Extra-Marital Affairs are Marks of Prestige in the GOP

colbertscarborough
Stephen Colbert vs. Joe Scarborough

Like a parody news program come to life, the Republican party has featured an array of characters that parallel the wildest reality show stars. Perhaps because the GOP contains representatives that equate the limiting of gun magazine capacities to less than 30 bullets with bestiality, some who want to establish a “State” religion, directly violating the First Amendment and there are others who want to force rape victims to give birth to their rapist’s baby. In order to maintain their stellar reputation as the party of god, they must continue to feature candidates that are as hypocritical as those they represent (yet claim to rebuke).

It isn’t surprising Republicans continue to defend each other, no matter how serious their offenses may be. Stephen Colbert brought to light Joe Scarborough’s close friendship with ex-South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford on his show (which aired April 3, 2013). Naturally, both Sanford and Scarborough are viewed by their party propitiously, even to the tune of being prominent figures in the GOP. Scarborough feels quite comfortable endorsing a man who was abhorred by a nation for his breach of fidelity to his wife and children while governor which involved taking trips to visit his mistress in Argentina on the taxpayers’ dime.

Both men are Republicans, who are held to much lower standards than their Democratic counterparts. Joe Scarborough escaped investigation in a case that would certainly grasp the attention of a nation had it not happened right before the biggest tragedy (9/11/2001) to impact our country since Pearl Harbor. Who better to endorse and befriend the disgraced former governor than a man who escaped prosecution from the inexplicable death of one of his office staffers?

The MSNBC Morning Joe host and ex-Florida Congressman, Joe Scarborough has seldom been questioned about a very suspicious death in his very own Florida office. Friday, July 20th, 2001, the body of Lori Klausutis, 28, was found slumped next to a desk on the floor of Florida Republican Congressman Scarborough’s Fort Walton Beach office where Lori had served as a constituent services coordinator since May, 1999. Her body was found around 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning by a couple arriving for an appointment. She had been dead for some time. A second employee, who would have normally arrived for work at around the same time, was away on vacation. Police cordoned off the area for investigation, later announcing that there was no reason to suspect foul play, nor were there signs of suicide…”The results of the mandated autopsy, however, were deemed “inconclusive”

The Medical Examiner in the Klausutis case was Michael Berkland. He is also the same Michael Berkland who was found to have rented a storage unit where the remains of more than 100 humans were found on August 24, 2012. Medical Examiner Dr. Andi Minyard told the Pensacola News Journal the remains appear to be from private autopsies Berkland performed at local funeral homes between 1997 and 2007. The fact the death of a 28 year old healthy marathon runner was never questioned or investigated is as remarkable as the medical examiner who found no foul play in the case. The lack of scrutiny in this case was absolutely the opposite of the close examination faced by two disgraced Democrats from New York.

Two of the more powerful and influential liberal politicians in recent years were completely decimated by behavior deemed socially unacceptable. Elliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner were both rising stars whose prominent careers were railroaded by the exposure of extra-marital infidelities. Neither Congressman Weiner or Governor Spitzer were guilty of any crimes/expenditures which cost taxpayers any money.

Spitzer-Weiner
Elliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner

Neither Weiner nor Spitzer has publicly announced any plans to return to public office at this point. It is very telling how quickly the GOP seems to forgive and forget the most egregious of offenses while Democrats are held to a different standard. Mark Sanford is now officially the Republican nominee for South Carolina’s First Congressional District, garnering the endorsement of his “good friend” Joe Scarborough. He received a generous amount of free air time and softball questions on his Morning Joe program. The topic of note today was his great proclivity towards honesty and running a fine campaign. The gushing over a man with very questionable moral fiber is not surprising coming from someone who may have gotten away with murder. There have even been rumors floating around that Scarborough is considering a Presidential run in 2016. People at NBC know that questioning anything about the Klausutis case will get you banned from the network, so nobody brings it up anymore. I suppose he is the ideal candidate, replete with scandal and plenty of corruption.

I’d like to just sit back and watch this train wreck unfold. But we all must stay diligent and support our Democratic candidates. Hopefully, Sanford will be defeated by Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of Stephen Colbert, who will be facing Sanford in a special runoff election for Tim Scott’s old seat. It would be tremendous to have more blue in red South Carolina.

CPAC 2013 and Selective Mandates Show Republican Ignorance

A few weeks ago, I ran into an old acquaintance from Connecticut, who was in our fair city for a few days. The first thing he told me was how absolutely bizarre Las Vegas seemed as to display numerous gigantic billboards advertising the opportunity to fire an automatic firearm. For someone from the eastern seaboard, this is rather anomalous.

20130313-093315.jpg
Billboards like this one are very common in Las Vegas, Nevada

In light of the obvious mass shooting tragedy that has rocked the civilized world, especially New England, any reasonable person visiting the City of Sin would find it callous and objectionable to glorify this type of weaponry. I told him this is rather de rigueur here and it doesn’t even phase most residents. Las Vegas has much the same attitude as many Red State (or purple in Nevada’s case) attitudes where guns are considered a right and a necessity for the über paranoid who have been hypnotized to believe President Obama is on a Marxist bender to disarm the nation. The Obama administration and his Leftist Army is trying to make the government so invasive, he wants to demand everyone must eat broccoli or arugula and join the New Black Panthers while paying for lazy welfare queens to go to Planned Parenthood for weekly abortions.

As utterly irrational as this may sound, it is not much of a stretch for a few towns in the South. Nelson, Georgia, population 1,300 is labeled “a liberal’s worst nightmare” because they have mandated every head of household own and maintain a firearm. Republicans hate big government and despise any invasion into their personal freedoms. But let’s look at their record of trying to mandate their way into our private lives. If they are offended by government simply trying to keep Americans safe from all-too-frequent massacres, one would think they’d be outraged at the government controlling religious freedom, reproductive health and interpersonal adult relations, right? A reasonable, logical person would think so, but we are talking about the GOP.

Indiana, one of the most Republican states in the country, has put forth a bill to mandate praying in the classroom. The recitation of The Lord’s Prayer has been proposed by an Indiana State Senator. “…The governing body of a school corporation or the equivalent authority of a charter school may require the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer at the beginning of each school day. The prayer may be recited by a teacher, a student, or the class of students.” Obviously the precious First Amendment would be completely dismantled by this idea, but as long it doesn’t restrict an American’s right to own weapons that can shoot 152 bullets in 5 minutes, it’s “on the table.”

New kid on the block and Republican heckler, Senator Ted Cruz (Tx), had the audacity to suggest restricting the types of guns one can own is equivalent to outlawing certain types of books. The false equivalency of the lethality of guns versus possession of certain books elucidates the perverted machinations of Cruz’s mind, which clearly is lost. In case you missed his pernicious exchange with the Democratic Senator, Diane Feinstein (CA) yesterday, here it is:

None of these small government advocates have a problem mandating teachers be armed in the classroom as well. They discard studies that show an increase in firearms is directly proportionate to an increase in firearm-related homicides. Several states have proposed laws to arm teachers and one has even passed legislation practically demanding teachers be armed, as is the case now in South Dakota.

On the issue of women’s health and reproductive freedom, the GOP has been incredibly diligent at legislating their way into the bodies of women, who comprise roughly half the population, no big deal. The anti-abortion bills put on the floor for a vote in the House alone exponentially outnumbers the jobs proposals by Republicans. But it’s even worse in the state governments run by Republicans where they’ve virtually wiped out affordable and safe abortion for poor women, especially in Arkansas, Mississippi, South Dakota and Michigan. Lest we forget the redefining of a violent act like rape and the transvaginal ultrasound probe requirement many Republicans have supported as mandatory to any abortion procedure, even when the woman is a victim of a sexual assault. This gross interpretation of freedom cost many Republicans their seats in the 2012 election, but it seems these folks have a very short memory, much like a goldfish I presume.

Today, Ohio Senator Rob Portman proclaimed his support and reformed attitude towards marriage equality. He professed how his support for love and acceptance as depicted in the Bible supersedes the traditional definition of marriage also known as DOMA, which was signed into law in 1996 but is slowly becoming highly unpopular and downright offensive to forward thinking Americans.

Do not despair, CPAC 2013 has a unique way of portraying America as hate-filled and intolerant as some of the fine speakers they showcase every year. Florida Tea-party darling Senator Marco Rubio (R) preached his usual science-denying climate change is unproven and a zygote is more important than the mother who carries it garbage. “The people who are actually closed-minded in American politics are the people who love to preach about the certainty of science with regards to our climate but ignore the absolute fact that science has proven that life begins at conception.”

Mandates like trying to keep people from drinking too much sugary soda and insurance companies paying for contraception have the right wing in a frenzy. But if you force an Atheist, Hindu or Muslim to recite a Christian prayer, force a woman to have an unwanted child, prevent two loving adults from marrying or allow a mentally unstable individual the right to purchase assault rifles, you are simply following god’s law and doing the work of Republican Jesus. Mandates are only wrong when they don’t make Wayne LaPierre wealthier. Perhaps this is why these guys are outraged over the shut down of White House tours; because deep down inside, in that last microscopic shred of humanity, the GOP realizes they won’t ever see the inside of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue any time soon. Elections will be theirs to lose if they continue on this path, and I’m sure not going to stop them!
