How a Dark Past and Radical Racism Continue to Dominate the GOP

Americans for Prosperity, Freedomworks, the Tea Party Movement are organizations funded by very dark money. The name Koch is highly revered in conservative circles but most people either don’t know or don’t care how this family has risen to the prominence only billions of dollars can procure.

No longer trying to hide their racism, Teabaggers openly scorn African-Americans

The benefactor of organizations that have terrorized America for decades is none other than Fred Koch , the original financier of the John Birch Society. In the 1950’s, Koch and his ultra-right wing organization preached of the evils of Socialism and its inclusivity of unions, homosexuals, colored people, Jews and moderate Republicans like President Eisenhower. In typical hypocritical GOP fashion, Koch railed against communism while making his fortune exporting oil technology to Josef Stalin’s Soviet Union in the 1920’s. Fred Koch believed the colored man looms large in the Communist plan to take over America. Hypocrisy is too mild a term for these monsters of mendacious manipulation. .

John Birch is not the only hate group (labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center) with which the Kochs have entangled their tentacles. The Oath Keepers, who often appear in tandem with the Heritage Foundation and John Birch Society, openly sponsored the very first GOP Presidential Debate in far-right wing heaven, South Carolina. Former President Clinton described the Oath Keepers as a “hatriot” group that embraces the same violent rhetoric that fueled Timothy McVeigh. The GOP’s War on Terror always neglects to include their own hate groups, who always stress “States’ Rights” over federal government statutes, much like the Antebellum South. Specifically, the fifth tenet of the racist organization asserts: ‘We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union.’

South Carolina’s Teaparty Governor and Koch Puppet, Nikki Haley

Teabaggers desperate to focus the GOP on barbaric chauvinist policies about women and white superiority are literally dismantling their own party by primarying candidates once deemed ultra-conservative, like Kentucky’s Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell. Supporters of challenger Matt Bevin have actually called McConnell a progressive liberal.

Their obvious distaste for non-whites has been painfully obvious, now more than ever. Supporters of Representative Steve King of Iowa have literally slapped DREAM Act supporters and immigrants alike so offensively, it may be impossible to win the hearts and minds of anyone of Latino descent in America ever again. They most assuredly deserve not a single vote from that segment of our population.

Voter suppression, kowtowing to the NRA and laws essentially turning women into livestock who have no other function than to pump out kids help create a society where the cycle of poverty and violence is impossible to break. Privatizing education so only the wealthy can afford decent schooling keeps the masses dumb enough (to vote GOP) and this is another facet of the Koch brothers’ diabolical scheme to create a 1% Utopia. Replacing public schools with charter schools and vouchers like the privatization of prisons, offers yet another opportunity for big corporations to get their hands into public coffers and earn a hefty profit.

The Scope of ALEC/Koch corporations is massive

With Citizen’s United permitting corporations to contribute ungodly sums of money to fund puppet candidates like Matt Bevin, the insidiously racist Koch Brothers, ALEC and their personal Supreme Court Justices can dupe untold numbers of ignorant voters to do their bidding.

Teabaggers deny they are racists, but when 99% of the group is white and they rail against the first African American president for imagined transgressions before he set his administration’s policies, it is impossible to see them as anything but racists. The Teaparty embodies racism to this day and the John Birchers and Koch adherents demonstrate that a large segment of society has been programmed to believe the white race is superior to Blacks, Latinos, and Asians. Until whites are outnumbered more significantly, we can not combat the conservative gerrymandering that keeps Congress so obstructionist and clearly misogynist and hate-motivated. Without an enthused and educated electorate, the Koch family will continue to annihilate the poor and middle class. Their sociopathic past guarantees a very bleak future.

The Over-Sharing Generation is Outraged at Greenwald’s Histrionics

In an effort to spite the United States, several Latin American nations issued a grant of asylum to the maligned Edward Snowden as getting a dig in on the USA is downright irresistible. Latin American countries with shaky US relations like Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Bolivia were Snowden’s original choices. Thanks to Glenn Greenwald and his band of merry ‘journalists’ who have drummed up outrage at the NSA’s PRISM program as an affront to privacy, Snowden is a man without a country. His passport now revoked, few countries will allow his passage over their airspace.

Snowden, a man who took a job simply to steal National Security secrets, ironically said in 2009 leakers should be shot in the balls’, expresses outrage at the information available at the spy organization’s fingertips. This is not a new development as the Patriot Act has allowed for surveillance since 9/11/2001. Proving he is far from logical and sensible, Snowden-Greenwald selected China, then Russia for safe-haven as if these nations are bastions of “freedom” who allow the unrestricted flow of information between the government and its citizens. Now, it seems Russia may be his last resort. Irony can be defined by placing one’s fate for asylum and compassion in the hands of the likes of Vladimir Putin.

People who are claiming the NSA has violated their privacy rights are the very same individuals who also have a massive social media addiction and can have one or more of the following accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Instagram, Vine, Google+, Pinterest and Tumblr. The self-anointing of Edward Snowden as a victim and de facto hero is as preposterous as George Zimmerman claiming he was attacked by an unarmed teen. Playing this card may work for a short time but public sentiments can change like the wind. By the defensiveness of Glenn Greenwald on a myriad appearances and posts, it seems the jet stream is changing.

Glenn Greenwald was a vocal supporter of the Iraq War and Bush’s “War on Terror.” He is a Civil Libertarian who stood with Rand Paul on protesting the domestic use of drones even though there has never been a domestic drone strike. His vitriolic tone and defensive demeanor often materialize on Twitter with personal attacks.

This is his response to me after I simply asked why it is such an outrage the NSA, an intelligence gathering organization, utilizes metadata to determine whether covert, potentially hazardous plots may be forming against the American people. How this makes me a disciple of Joseph McCarthy eludes me completely. In his quest for relevancy and fame, he mercilessly self-promotes and stirs the pot, often offending prominent people far more distinguished and qualified than he.

His continued need to be in the spotlight supersedes his so-called whistleblower intentions. It was never about the NSA. He exposed nothing new. This simply gives his President Obama-loathing a new forum and like he attempted in 2010, it gives him a platform to divide Progressives and keep his Cato Institute Koch Brothers bosses happy. His intent is to help Libertarian hypocrites, like Rand Paul, divide and conquer. Make no mistake. This man and his pawn Edward Snowden truly are no friends of Americans.

In a time where voting rights have been gutted, vigilantes can legally hunt and kill unarmed black teens without penalty, women are viewed by state governments as breeders (comparable to livestock), poor children and elderly can literally starve while Wall Street is back to business as usual, America does not need distractions like this Snowden-Greenwald circus. Progressives, Democrats and like-minded, thinking and caring Americans need to unite to fix the evils caused by the far-right fringe lunatics who have taken over Congressional and state governments. To allow a slippery sophist trafficking in disingenuous outrage to direct the news cycle is downright detrimental to saving this country from the deranged, bigoted, racist theocracy the Republicans are working so hard to create.

Outlawing Abortion Helps Fund America’s For-Profit Prison Complex

It seems Republican State legislators’ quest to make abortion either illegal or extremely difficult to obtain is a more common theme in our news cycles. Each GOP governor seems to be trying to top the far-right, ‘pro-life’ antics of other ‘Christian’ leaders. No woman is immune to their efforts to clamp down on the right to control her own body. The red flag that is raised in my mind is: Why the hell do they care so much about fetuses when those already born are obviously of little importance?

While claiming to be governments who have adopted Christian ideals, one crazy Teapublican administration after another in these Red States are making it downright perilous to simply be a woman . Restricting abortion and contraception are priority number one when it comes to these white, male conservatives. Ironically, these very same states have the most abysmal statistics on child care and education yet the majority of citizens continue to vote GOP, creating a perpetual cycle of poverty.

Prominent ultra right-wing agents of ‘pro-life’ values, like Koch Brothers’ funded ALEC and religious organizations like The Council on Biblical Womanhood and Manhood (CBMW) lobby against all contraception and abortion rights for any woman. Once the child is born, programs like SNAP and WIC are savagely cut to leave both women and children in dire poverty. These children are disproportionately comprised of minorities like African-American and Hispanic Americans. Ultimately, minorities make up a far greater percentage of the prison population. The composition of prison populations is not conjecture, it is the unfair and racist truth.

The National Right to Life Organization sponsored billboards nationwide with this offensive message

The United States has the largest prison population, not just percentage of imprisoned citizens, but actual numbers, on earth, bar none. We certainly pay handsomely for this dubious honor: In the past two decades, the money that states spend on prisons has risen at six times the rate of spending on higher education. The Religious Right is very well aware of this fact. Pat Robertson pointed out on his TV show, The 700 Club, “We here in America make up 5% of the world’s population but we make up 25% of the [world’s] jailed prisoners.” The increased disparity between rich and poor in this country, with a more profound impact on minorities, creates a society which sustains the world’s highest rates of incarceration, thus keeping prisons operating over capacity. The ever-growing gap between the U.S. and the rest of the world is relatively recent. In 1980 the U.S.’s prison population was about 150 per 100,000 adults. It has more than quadrupled since then. Something has happened in the past 30 years to push millions of Americans into prison. The answer: The War on Drugs. (AKA the war on minorities)

Today’s Republican Party has been known for implausible claims like fetal masturbation, rape cannot result in pregnancy and pro-life means pro-death penalty, thus appearing wrought with insanity and contradiction. One might conclude the GOP and its minions are incapable of such a calculated and diabolical plan, but this goes back to the Nixon and Reagan administrations who were a bit more savvy than the Todd Akin/Louis Gomert crowd. Fortunately for today’s Tea Party clowns, their predecessors were much more calculating. Sensible Americans need to know it’s best to never underestimate your enemies, no matter how gaff-ridden they appear.

These folks have been cutting funding in every way possible to prevent upward mobility for Americans who are poor minorities. When a woman is saddled with a child from a young age, it is nearly impossible for her to break the cycle of poverty. They know this. They also know exactly how to appeal to the religious fundamentalists’ principles that motivates even the poorest women to vote for misanthropic misogynists who only seek to increase white, male dominance.  Simply look at the principles espoused by prominent Protestants and you’ll understand how they justify their cruel legislation.

Martin Luther (1483-1546) , the father of the Protestant schism, along with a slew of prominent Christian leaders throughout history have intensely misogynist beliefs. Along with his anti-Science quote: “Reason should be destroyed in all Christians”, he seemed to fear and distrust women, like today’s GOP, who believe women should not be in control of their own sexuality. He said, women…“to the end, should remain at home, sit still, keep house, and bear and bring up children.”

Once they’ve justified keeping women in their rightful “place,” they can work hard keeping the dreadful minorities, especially the African Americans, in dire conditions that facilitate the unchecked expansion of the for-profit prison complex. GEO Prison Group actually almost got away with having a football stadium named after the corporation at Florida Atlantic University as it shows obscene profits. The private prison industry rakes in over $5.1 billion per contract, significantly greater than the $760 million 2004 price tag.

California actually receives $50,000 from the state coffers per prisoner, while each student in the public school system only garners $8,667.00 per year. Prison is big business and the GOP knows that every unwanted pregnancy is a potential inmate that will earn their friends beaucoup bucks. One simply needs to follow the money to discover the GOP’s supposed Christian ‘right to life’ is merely a ruse. If the attention is not focused on their deliberate efforts to subjugate minorities, women and children, they can continue to hoard massive profits unbeknownst to the general populace. The GOP has played their insidious hand rather well, and if people realized how diabolical the system is, legislation to combat this strategy (perpetuating the cycle of poverty) might have a chance. If you can follow the money, you’ll see every impetus for GOP politics is based on their worship of the Almighty Dollar.
