This Idiot Finally Says Out Loud What the GOP Thinks: We Hate the Poor

20 Jun

It was the most astonishing thing I’ve heard on TV in a while. The reporter teased, ‘a GOP Wisconsin Senate candidate says he’s tired of hearing sob stories about the poor.’ I had to rewind it, as I never thought anyone would actually say that out loud.

The ever-so-compassionate Eric Hovde. Poor guy is tired of hearing poor people sob stories.

Immediately, I had to search on-line for this because I thought Paul Ryan and Scott Walker had a pretty good lock on complete lack of empathy for their fellow humans in Wisconsin. But this guy? This guy is my new favorite villain. He just said it. I’m sick of the press covering sob stories about the poor. If you’d like to watch the video, click here and fast forward to around 12:30 and watch it to the end. Remember Madison, February 2011? Workers leading the charge in protest of injustice. A beautiful site for Democracy and fairness. Now we get a glimpse of this guy. Very strange.

At the same time, I find it pretty awesome how a group of Catholic Nuns are on a nine state bus tour to protest the Ryan Budget. Yesterday, they just happened to arrive in the land of cheese and misanthropy, Wisconsin. These fourteen Catholic women see the evil inherent in the cuts Paul Ryan has proposed and the GOP Teabagging House passed. The fact the budget gives more tax cuts to the ridiculously rich while drastically cutting aid to poor people is an ethical and moral issue. The nuns are absolutely correct. I wish them all the best in exposing these frauds.

The teachings of Jesus state you will ultimately be judged by how you treat the poor in your society. Obviously the GOP has no concerns for their “heavenly” fate. Perhaps they are not Christians after all. Maybe they are Agnostics or Atheists, but that would be a serious insult to us Atheists. We actually care about other people because we are not empathetic largely for some supernatural otherworldly reward. We live in the here and now. Perhaps these assholes on the GOP side should too.

Koch Brothers’ Amerikkka

Fred Koch

The Koch Brothers and ALEC are working hard to suppress as many legitimate voters as possible. “After the 2008 presidential election — in the wake of the highest general election turnout in nearly 60 years (particularly among university students and African-Americans) — corporations and politicians on ALEC’s “Public Safety and Elections” Task Force voted to approve “model” voter ID legislation as a policy priority for members. (The “private sector” co-chair of that task force at the time was the National Rifle Association)” (The NRA, big supporters of ALEC and the GOP) Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, a puppet of the Koch family, drew the attention of Stephen Colbert who highlighted his absurd tactics to dismay and confuse voters. Voter suppression is an extremely minor issue. It is not a problem of the magnitude of say ELECTION FRAUD. Listen to Fox News and you’ll be convinced it’s the biggest problem America has faced since the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This master plan has been EIGHTY years in the making!

All this insidiousness is certainly not new for the Birchers: suppressing voters, exploiting the poor, keeping the “coloreds” segregated. The Koch brothers have actively been involved with Americans for Prosperity’s efforts to RE-SEGREGATE schools!. The patriarch of the klan, I mean clan, is Fred, who died in 1967. He made Charles Koch his successor in his multi-billion dollar empire. It is an empire with immense tentacles which reach into any and every aspect of society they wish to influence. They are the mastermind of the insanely racist and corporatist “TeaParty”. They start with local and state governments and are now moving nationally with the help of Birther sympathizer, Willard Romney.

As one of the John Birch Society’s founders, an organization steeped in racism and fear-mongering, Fred Koch and his minions took over strong anti-union, anti-veteran agendas in localities. Occasionally, they were unsuccessful in their intimidation techniques, but mostly have immense wealth and power to get any elected official to do their bidding, including Willard Romney. After all, Mittens believed “blacks were cursed” until his church changed its thinking when he was an adult of thirty-one years. We all know how they must speak of this black president behind closed doors.

As I’ve written previously, the GOP is terrified of whites becoming a minority. They have poor voters often convinced they are the ones who will save them, even if every single policy from healthcare to taxes will hurt them IMMENSELY! It is really important to convince voters whose income is between the poverty line and twice the poverty line that they should vote for candidates who would do something about their plight. Unfortunately, these voters fall for the fear tactics and seem to vote against their better interests. By accepting racist hate and bigotry, they vote for the prosperity of the Kochs and their sick and twisted vision for Amerikkka. It’s entirely sad and tragic and, for me, very painful to witness.

Wisconsin: A Microcosm of the GOP War on Workers

February 16, 2011 Protest in State Capitol

June 5, 2012. Perhaps the second most important day this year: The Wisconsin Governor Walker Recall Election. Over 1,000,000 Wisconsinites signed a petition to recall Governor Scott Walker. His attack on collective bargaining rights and mass cuts to the board of education (to name a few) sparked the largest demonstration in Wisconsin’s history.

Wisconsin went Red in 2010. Very Red. One of our best progressive Senators Russ Feingold was ousted in 2010. It was a tragic loss for Democrats. The worst, however, was yet to come. The Tea Party/Koch brothers puppet, Scott Walker has proven to be one of the worst governors in the nation. With competition from Ohio’s Kasich, Michigan’s Snyder and Florida’s Scott, that’s saying A LOT! As a matter of fact, Wisconsin was the WORST in job creation for 2011 He rolled in on a wave of “job creator this and worker that.” Nonsense. He’s given insane tax breaks to big corporations and laid off thousands of police, firefighters and teachers. Recently, Walker has been visited by the political elite, Romney and Christie who have lent their support to his plight: Wisconsin’s citizens want him out! Walker has gone outside Wisconsin. In fact over 60% of Walker’s money has come from outside billionaire boys’ club

Governors Christie and Walker Corporations’ Best Friends

This recall represents the war on workers going on today between big corporate Republicans versus more worker-friendly Democrats. The outside money and support is there for Walker. Inside Wisconsin the Democratic front runner and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is gaining on Walker. He’s raised about 1/10th the cash in his war chest as Scott Walker. Back in January, the Koch Brothers’ frontman was leading by 10 percentage points, that lead is now gone. Barrett actually leads 47% to Walker’s 46%.

The nation is watching this recall as closely as any race in history. It is a symbolic battle of corporations versus the people. It’s Citizen’s United in action and we hope the people’s voice is louder and stronger.

Another race, not quite as publicized is Paul Ryan’s challenge from Rob Zerban. Follow him @RobZerban. Ryan recently was cancelled by a fundraiser for The Gap because of his abysmal record on equal rights. Rob is quietly mounting a challenge to the man responsible for the most cruel budget ever drafted. Read more in this Esquire Magazine article

Paul Ryan’s challenger Rob Zerban

I’m certain Ryan has millions more than Mr Zerban, but my heart and the hearts of workers, elderly and the infirmed should go with the Democrat who is fighting for them. Please lend your support any way you can (tweet, blog, contribute) to Tom Barrett and Rob Zerban. They’ve got a tough battle ahead, but guys, America is pulling for you!
