Watching the Demise of the Republican Party

29 Nov

I must admit I am thoroughly enjoying the macabre demise of a once powerful political party, the GOP. Their implosion truly began with Saint Reagan’s Voodoo Economics debacle and has hit the party’s nadir with the tantrum-throwing triumvirate of the Senate (Graham, McCain and Ayotte and the Benghazi “Scandal”). It’s been a long time coming and I’m glad to welcome the GOP Apocalypse with open arms. These masters of mendacity have been perpetrating an apocryphal fraud on the American people and it’s taken roughly thirty years for the majority of our electorate to come to this epiphany. The major causes of this impending doom are their adherence to deleterious tax policies, The TeaParty’s influence, voter suppression and religious fundamentalists hijacking the party.

Most notably, the stranglehold of the self-appointed anti-tax czar Grover Norquist seems to be loosening as he seems to be in the throes of desperation. Even long time GOP Senator Alan Simpson (R-Wy) jokes about drowning Norquist and his “pledge” in a bathtub. Good Ole Grover knows he is becoming irrelevant and will threaten pledge-signing Republicans with the fate of Bush 41 if they defy this self-proclaimed tax god who has only hurt our economy with his policies. Teaparty crazies like Joe Walsh and Allen West and their anti-tax zealotry were soundly defeated. In fact, the Teaparty is considered one of the least popular groups in America ranking slightly ahead of Atheists and Muslims.

Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist, never elected to a single office

Teaparty Express leader Amy Kremer believes the reason for the defeat was not the extremist wing of the GOP, but the absence of true conservatism in the candidates. She recently admitted Republicans like Senators Chambliss and Graham are going to be put through a Republican primary fight in 2014 if they don’t uphold the Norquist Pledge. Teabaggers in the House, Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan to name a few, will not raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans and would rather see us suffer a crushing economic blow like they caused last summer when our credit rating was downgraded for the first time in history.

Following the 2012 General Election when President Obama won reelection with a comfortable Electoral College margin (332-206), a few Republican officials openly admitted the reason for their massive voter suppression campaigns was not to prevent voter fraud, but to make sure it was harder for minorities to vote. Fortunately, Democrats in key swing states like Ohio and Pennsylvania were aware of this discrimination campaign and were able to put a halt to their efforts.

Another group to whom they have little influence are those who are not self-proclaimed members of any organized religion. Atheists, Agnostics and “Nones” make up almost 20% of our population, up from around a 6% representation in 1990. Issues like repealing DADT and legalizing gay marriage are supported by many younger voters, both Democrats and Republicans, so the GOP’s outdated stance on these issues is very quickly losing popularity. If birth control, DOMA and abortion are going to comprise their religiously-motivated agenda, 2014 could see a Democratic House once again.

During this holiday season, I am most thankful logic and reason prevailed over “legitimate rape” and personhood in a year the Mayans and Fundamentalists have decided is the End of the World. In other words, Michelle Bachmann’s brand of batshit didn’t sell and probably won’t for a long time. I believe Thomas Ricks said it best in this very abruptly ended interview on Fox News that the Newscorp network is a wing of the Republican propaganda machine. This machine is becoming outdated and obsolete and will slip into irrelevance if they continue behaving like Teabagging Toddlers. I believe the #GOP will no longer be trending in the near future.

President Obama Held to Impossible Standards Republicans Never Achieved

16 Nov

Do you remember October 23, 1983? This was the day 241 U.S. Marines (and 58 French soldiers) were killed in a suicide bombing on their barracks near the airport in Beirut. President Reagan was even warned. A former defense secretary for Ronald Reagan says he implored the president to put Marines serving in Beirut in a safer position before terrorists attacked them in 1983, killing 241 servicemen. The Secretary of Defense (Caspar Weinberger) warned the president and yet no one lay blame upon his administration. The military took the fall.

Fast forward 29 years to another violent Middle Eastern city, Benghazi. Four Americans tragically lost their lives in an unfortunate terror strike on the US consulate in the war-weary Libyan city. After admittedly cutting embassy and consulate security funding GOP House Members defend their actions as necessary even though Secretary of State Clinton advised against such irresponsible measures.  They seem to want to assign blame to the President when it is obvious they are partially responsible for the tragedy.  Somehow, our CIA and military, headed by General David Petraeus (who was appointed by Bush), were not complicit. The GOP went straight for President Obama, who unlike  Reagan after Beirut, was somehow responsible for the debacle.  The Right wants to believe President Obama has surely committed an impeachable offense simply being in office while four Americans lost their lives in a consulate attack.  The absurdity of the blame game was best expressed by Congressman Gary Ackerman (D-NY) who spoke of the budget cuts at a recent hearing:

…”the audacity to come here when the administration requested, for worldwide security, $440 million more than you guys wanted to provide. And the answer is that you damn didn’t provide it! You REDUCED what the administration asked for to protect these people. Ask not who the guilty party is, it’s you! It is us. It is this committee, and the things that we insist that we need have to cost money.”
He added, “Could you tell me which of my colleagues on this committee was as bodacious in their insistence that we provide more money for American security in the State Department budget. I would appreciate it.”

Senators McCain and Graham

President Obama should not be held accountable for the irresponsible acts of the Republican Congressmen, yet they continue to demonize him and his cabinet.  Susan Rice, the UN Ambassador, has acted appropriately based on the information provided to her by CIA briefings.  However, Senators McCain and Graham have been on an insane witch hunt of Ambassador Rice, trying desperately to discredit President Obama through her.  Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga) also won’t let the matter rest, eagerly looking for Rice to assume responsibility.  While attending hearings where Petraeus spoke Friday, asked, “How did this group penetrate the facility that we had in Benghazi, and who were these folks?” After the hearings concluded, he told reporters, “We’re getting closer to determining that. We know they were Al Qaeda affiliates or Al Qaeda itself.”  So where’s the controversy?  An underfunded consulate in a hostile Al Qaeda populated country was the unfortunate target of terrorists.  How is this so much worse than an administration ignoring all the CIA briefings pointing to the original 9/11 attacks?  Perhaps there’s more to this story than meets the eye.  I am entertaining a few ideas.

1.  This is a smokescreen to cover up the real story about Benghazi: Perhaps it was the GOP’s 2012 October Surprise gone terribly wrong?  That’s why Willard held that “impromptu press conference” back on September 15th.  Romney said, “I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi.  It’s disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.” The response was not from the Obama administration – it was from the Cairo embassy.  Obviously, he was simply lying as he’s so adroitly accustomed to doing.  Perhaps Rove, Romney and heaven knows who else were in collusion trying to create a situation designed to make the President look weak on foreign affairs, an area which he has definitely excelled.  Romney’s strange behavior the days following the attack and in the second debate certainly puts a question or two in my mind there may be something to a theory pointing to the GOP’s culpability.

2. This whole Petraeus/Broadwell/Kelley/Allen SNAFU is merely a canard.  The real issue in trying to quickly dispose of Petraeus was not his inappropriate sexual conduct, but his general incompetence.  The Republicans have a tendency to deify people that aren’t exactly deserving of high praise.  The surge he so assuredly convinced President Obama to undertake in Afghanistan was based on flawed information on the Iraq surge’s success.  It happened to coincide with a sectarian Iraqi Civil War and thus given credit to decreased violence in the nation.  Comparing this strategy to the surge in Afghanistan was perhaps the only way to keep the war profiteers in business and continue the perpetual war mentality.  The evidence of the success of the surge points much to the contrary by those really in the know.  It’s largely possible President Obama has learned this and was going to fire Petraeus anyway for being deceptive.  This would further solidify the incompetence of everything surrounding the Bush Administration and the GOP can’t afford any further embarrassment.

During the Bush Administration, there were 12 embassy attacks and 53 American casualties. Not once were George W. Bush and his crime family ever held accountable for any of these tragedies.  We know now the Bush Administration, including then NSA director Condoleezza Rice, ignored warnings given by the prior to 9/11/2001 and then fabricated evidence of WMD to involve us in Iraq.  President Obama has been a paragon of virtue when compared to his predecessor.  The GOP has been trying to manufacture scandals when it comes to him and all his officials, especially those who are African-American.  First it was Van Jones, then Shirley Sherrod, then Valerie Jarrett and the ever-present attacks launched upon Attorney General Eric Holder prior to this charade of investigations on Ambassador Rice.  Obviously, there is a tremendous problem with anyone in a position of power that looks similar to slaves rather than slave-owners.  Perhaps that sounds a bit extreme, but is it really?  If one considers Paul Ryan’s given excuse for losing this election: the GOP failed to mobilize the urban vote (also known as “Black” and Latino),  you can see coded racist language so commonly found in the Republican Party.

If ever there was a time for outrage, it was when we allowed corrupt, GOP appointed generals to be in command of our foreign policy, not when we are trying to act responsibly to keep the world from despising the United States.  It’s high time the Department of Defense stop controlling our foreign policy and allow those interested in maintaining peace, not war to take charge.  I certainly am hopeful those days of foreign policy ineptitude are behind us with President Obama at the helm.

A Plea to America

A PLEA TO AMERICA

In a few days time Americans will go to the polls to elect the 45th President of the United States. The choice really could not be clearer. The progressive, socialistic policies of the present incumbent, or the more right wing, aggressive ones of the challenger. In essence, the two candidates are like chalk and cheese.

So the choice is clear – Another 4 years for President Obama to continue turning America’s fortunes around, whilst still trying to fix the disastrous mess left by his predecessor, George W Bush. On the other hand, a Willard Romney government that threatens to dismantle a lot of the social policies implemented like ‘Obama Care’ as well as instigating tax cuts that will generally benefit the rich more than the poor.
The United States of America is a democratic country and at the end of the day, the humble voter will decide who gets to sit in the Oval Office. It is the right of every registered voter and, overall, a decision will be made as is the democratic way. I certainly have no issues or complaints with this process. It is a tried and trusted, and generally fair way of selecting a leader.

However, voters must understand the importance of their vote. They are not only voting for a President that will govern domestically, they are electing a President that will have a huge influence in virtually every worldwide event and global crisis. This is important for a number of reasons as is evidenced below.

The global reputation of the United States suffered greatly when Iraq was invaded. True, Saddam Hussein was captured, but it was plain to see that the so called ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ did not appear to exist. As such the US gained a reputation of being an aggressor, and not understanding, or wanting to, local issues and cultures. To be blunt, the hatred of the US and its citizens grew to a new unprecedented level.
When Barack Obama was initially elected as President, he went out of his way to proactively ensure the Middle East and the Arabic World that there was a new America. One who would negotiate and talk to other countries, understand and appreciate other cultures and religions and one who would not act on a whim, as George W Bush had.

Over the past four years, the tarnished reputation of the United States has improved. However, there are fears that an Obama loss will lead to far greater world tensions and possibly even worse things. Romney has already proven himself to be incompetent as a diplomat on the world stage. In his short tenure as the prime challenger to Obama, Romney has upset Great Britain (America’s greatest ally), Australia (another staunch ally), Most of Europe and the Arabic World. This alone should invalidate voting for Romney. (Except his base is so utterly xenophobic, they’re utterly unaware of his international faux pas.)

Romney has also made no secret of his friendship with his old Israeli mate, Netanyahu. Israel has its own agenda as it looks to ensure the safety of the Israeli state at any cost. If this means attacking Iran, Syria or any other deemed ‘aggressor’ then so be it. With a Romney administration offering support, the chances of Israel making the first strike will increase.
Imagine what this would do to the stability of the Middle-East. Imagine the potential aggression from Muslim countries against Israel and its allies, including America. Imagine how the rest of the world would feel about America’s actions and principles if this was to happen. In short, it could lead to irreversible damage to the United States. Even friends of the US could turn their back on America.
So when you go to vote on Tuesday, please take into account the potential effect a Romney Administration would have on the world stage. Is it a risk worth taking? I, for one, think not.

The GOP Resorts to Lies and Hyperbole as Election Looms

29 Oct

As the election fast approaches and the Eastern Seaboard is bombarded by a mega-storm that is a rare combination of a Nor’easter and a hurricane, Republicans, desperate to regain power, are up to their usual tactics to try to sway voters their way. The usual libel, slander, racist and biblical pronouncements are given excessive coverage given their frivolity.

Last week’s Trump pronouncement offering a reward in exchange for President Obama’s passport application and college transcripts received undue media attention, as if anything this bloviating egomaniac says is relevant or pertinent to any facts. Distraction is the name of the game, and the GOP wants anything to distract us from Willard Romney’s inability to stick to a real position, his Mormon Cult or his reluctance to release his Olympic records, Massachusetts governance records or his much coveted tax returns.

With the looming storm, FEMA is front and center for providing disaster relief and has worked reasonably well when not mismanaged by an unconcerned GOP administration as it was during Katrina. Romney’s position on FEMA is pretty clear: privatize it for profit. During a 2011 GOP primary debate he (Romney) said it was “immoral” for the federal government to be spending money on disaster relief when it should be focused on deficit reduction: “Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further, and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better. Instead of thinking, in the federal budget, what we should cut, we should ask the opposite question, what should we keep?” Essentially, Romney would do to disaster zones what Enron did to the power grid in California in 2002. If history is any indicator, Willard will most likely flip flop on his FEMA position, but make no mistake, if he wins, hurricane victims will be considered the 47% of Americans who do not concern him.

Naturally, the bible-thumping fundamentalists don’t want to be left out of this opportunity to preach their hateful agenda. This hurricane is caused, naturally, by God’s displeasure with the support for gay marriage by those liberals in the White House. Seriously, this is exactly what Defend and Proclaim the Faith ministries founder John McTernan is asserting. Hurricane Sandy is proof that “God is systematically destroying America.” He continues, “If you add the area of the drought and now the hurricane together, it would be about 80 percent of the country!” … “As I said, the Holy God of Israel is systematically destroying America right before our eyes.” Doesn’t it make you wonder why God has singled out the entire East Coast for this storm when there are so many God-fearing Christians there? Is God really this vindictive?

I remember how the November 2,2010 Teaparty victories were so heralded as a “grassroots” victory for frustrated Americans tired of the business-as-usual Washington D.C. politics. These victories brought us the 112th Congress, you know, the Congress that has given America record filibusters and anti-abortion legislation. It was exactly what Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight.com predicted. He is a numbers guy, a master of prediction based on precise mathematics, formulated by a reliable dissection of myriad polling data. Since he has predicted a higher likelihood that President Obama will be victorious over Romney this election day, the right-wing media has naturally tried to discredit Mr. Silver by labeling him effeminate and gay. If you hate the facts, attack the messenger. That’s not a childish way to handle the truth at all!

Race baiting: Sununu and Romney

Naturally any Obama supporter who is a Republican feels a certain way for all the wrong reasons. Just ask John Sununu. The former New Hampshire GOP Governor said in an interview the only reason former Secretary of State Colin Powell would endorse President Obama is because he too is African-American, which is absolutely insulting to a man who has achieved what General Powell has accomplished in his life.

Willard, as per usual, is employing dubious “facts” in his most recent ads, which he’ll claim to have no knowledge of. For example, his new ad claims Chrysler is moving Jeep jobs to China. One reporter said the mendaciousness of Romney’s new auto ad is breathtaking even for him. Apparently, he’s utilizing his lying for the lord doctrine of his Mormon cult as his principle campaign strategy. For some reason unbeknownst to me, the American people seem to be perfectly okay with his mendacity and lack of resolve to maintain a position.

Just wait folks. It is only going to get worse. The election is only eight days away and the GOP will break any law, commit fraud, lie, cheat and steal their way to victory. This time, we are far more prepared than we were in 2000 and 2004 when we never suspected the fraud the GOP will engage in to rig an election. Hopefully, America has acquired a sufficient distaste for outright lies and deceit.

Chuck Todd’s Nasty False Equivalency Targets Democratic Voters

22 Oct

If it any well-informed voter feels a bit uneasy about some of the election practices in swing states, it might be due to the fact the voting machines are owned in part by Willard Romney’s wanna-be boxer son, Tagg Romney. He, along with the other nefarious trolls from the Romney camp, plan on winning any way they can, not even shy about stating, “We are going to STEAL Ohio.” It takes some brass ones to simply come out and admit they are cheating and believing “there’s not a goddamned thing any of you can do about it. We’ve got money and power.” Combine this lugubrious news with the thousands of voter registration forms that were thrown into a dumpster by a 31 year old GOP operative in the swing state of Virginia, and you get some of us folks feeling a bit queasy by now.

Just hang on, conspiracy theorists. Chuck Todd knows what’s fact and what’s fiction. This is why he gives equal airtime to “issues” like Trump’s Birtherism and Sheriff Arpaio’s fact-finding birth certificate “mission.” It’s not like we’ve proven countless times the birth certificate issue has more than been resolved, but for the purpose of making Democrats with real problems and concerns look equally foolish, albeit insane, Chuck T. will simply present them as the opposite end of the nutty spectrum. But hey, Chuckie, Mr. Daily Rundown, the Orly Taitz Birthers of the world should get the same airtime as those with documented cases of outright fraud and illegal election practices, right?

Chuck opted to lend any validity to the claims of possible election theft and tainted voting machines. He continues to equate actual cases of election (not voter) fraud as merely a conspiracy theory, like the events forcing the only President in history to produce his long form birth certificate. Nothing is said about the American people’s desire to cast their ballots freely like they do in so many countries. It’s gotten so bad, Chuck, the UNITED NATIONS is stepping in and monitoring US elections!

20121022-042028.jpg

Chuck Todd, hamming it up at the RNC, Tampa

Chuck’s loyalty to Bain and the Romney camp was blatant in this interview with Obama campaign spokesperson Stephanie Cutter. She correctly asserts how Willard Romney was the head of Bain Capital through 2002. All Chuck could focus on was the removal of some controversial ads stating this FACT, not the veracity of the ads. He thought they were too mean and unfair, but had nothing to say of Romney’s own Birther comment.

Chuck often baits his colleague, Joe Scarborough into Obama-bashing (not that he needs any help). On the issue of whether President Obama should have met with (selected) world leaders during the recent UN General Assembly, Todd goaded Scarborough with statements comparing Obama 2012 with Bush 2004, “It’s weird” that Obama isn’t doing the same right now,” Todd concluded… “and then you’re going on The View.” Scarborough added that Obama “doesn’t seem to want to” build relationships with foreign leaders.” Chuck tacitly agreed, nodding in acquiescence.

He often allows GOP guests on his shows to finish spinning their fantastical nonsense unchallenged while repeatedly interrupting Democratic guests. I’ve never heard a more insane lie than when über-neocon and Teaparty madman Richard Mourdock was on The Daily Rundown, he stated his goal was to get “more and more people to believe it is a good thing to roll back the size of government…it would be a good thing if we increase personal freedoms,” Chuck Todd had no comment on those unfounded assertions. As if the GOP isn’t responsible for the greatest increases in the size of government historically. He was absolutely silent when Mourdock stated how bipartisanship should mean Democrats coming over to the Republican side, not both meeting in the middle, also know as “compromise.”

I’ve personally noticed how eager he is to create an election horse race for his corporate Comcast/G.E. masters, when, in all reality, there isn’t one. Remember the 47% comment? Chuck Todd quickly rose to Romney’s defense:

.. you don’t necessarily know. Is the candidate saying what he truly believes? Or is he saying what he thinks the audience wants to hear? Particularly at a place like a fund-raiser where partisan red meat is had, not just rubber chicken, if you will, that they eat. But, you know, in this videotape — which, of course, our national investigative correspondent, Michael Isikoff, acquired — you do get a sense of at least what the campaign is thinking sometimes. And in many ways Mitt Romney was sounding like a pundit — right? He was saying there are 47% of the country that is going to be with the president no matter what. But the part that he said, talking about that they pay no income taxes, that they want to be part of a government, it’s probably going to have legs and something he’s got to deal with. He’s put out a statement, a sort of non-innocuous statement, trying to deal with this a little ways. And it is a reminder: President Obama, when he was candidate Obama, had a similar incident where he was overheard talking about analyzing folks in the state of Pennsylvania, saying they cling to their guns and religion. And…it’s a political comment to this day that’s still a political problem for the president to deal with in those states.

As I write this, Chuck is giddily projecting Romney winning by a statistical 70% likelihood, based on some history he just manufactured on Morning Joe. His harsh criticism of all Democrats coupled with his loyalty to the Bain Capital magnate is all he cares to present on MSNBC in the morning and subsequently throughout the news day. I won’t even start on David Gregory and his Meet the Press cavalcade of GOP guests who are given a forum to spew their lies, unchallenged. It would be nice if there was a little objective journalism or even some actual liberal media once in a while. It’s obvious the corporations are pulling the puppet strings and “journalists” like Chuck Todd are happy to dance for the bosses. Once again, the claim of “liberal media” is simply the GOP projecting its own practices erroneously upon the innocent.

After Romney’s poor showing in Monday’s third and final debate, Chuck Todd speaks in a very harsh, irritated tone, noticeably different than yesterday. Hmmmmm. Perhaps I had a point?

Obama Clearly Won Debate #2

A Guest Blog by Derek Wood of Sydney, NSW, Australia

The second of the Presidential debates has now taken place and it was a welcome return to form for Barack Obama. The President took a more aggressive stance and certainly scored a number of hits to the (largish) chin of his opponent Mitt Romney. The GOP candidate certainly didn’t help his cause by slipping up on a number of occasions and then mentioning the now classic comment “binders full of women”. It certainly was not a great comment to have come from someone aspiring to be the next President of the United States.

So after the first two debates it is 1-1 between the two candidates. As for the Obama supporters, they are now buoyed with the President showing his true debating skills, coupled with enough aggression to show he is the real deal. As for Romney, well, his team will need to regroup if they are going to come out on top in the final debate. Interestingly, after the second debate Romney appears to have garnered extra support – if the latest opinion polls are to be believed.

From an Australian point of view, there has been a feeling that Obama is back in control and is starting to hone in on his opponent. The Australian government has made it quite clear as to whose side they are on, and it is not Willard Romney. This is predominantly due to the risk that Romney would pose to world peace, especially that in the Middle East. His friendship with Israel and Netanyahu in particular needs to be put into the spotlight. Neither the US nor the West can afford another war in that part of the world. Alas, the signs are that a Romney Presidency would raise the odds of that happening. He wants to increase the Pentagon’s budget by $2 TRILLION!

Also, Mitt seems to have a regular occurrence of ‘putting his foot in his mouth’. Aside from upsetting a number of countries on his recent fund raising junket, he has since become famous for his 47% comment, and can now add the “binder” one to the list of calamities. Maybe he should now be known as ‘Calamity Mitt’. The “binder” comment does seem to cement the view that Romney has issues with women in general. Whether it is his religious upbringing, or otherwise it does appear that there is a problem here.

There is a parallel to this in Australia with the leader of the opposition, Tony Abbott. Two events have happened recently. Firstly, there was the misogyny attack he received from the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, following the recent death of her father. Then, in an unprecedented move, Tony Abbott’s wife and daughters went public in an interview to tell all and sundry that he does not have any issues with women. Strange indeed. There is another similarity between the ‘pretenders to the throne’ both here in Australia and the United States. Both Mitt Romney and Tony Abbott are lacking in actual policy. Whilst this is a strategy that can work well (ex PM John Howard used this strategy to beat incumbent Paul Keating to the top job in Australia), the vast majority of voters want to know what the candidate and their party really stand for. To date, I cannot see too many policies spewing forth from the mouth of Mitt! However, banal comments are definitely to the fore with Romney!

Julia Gillard and Tony Abbot

So to conclude, the third debate will be important. Hopefully, Obama will continue on from the second debate and turn those proverbial screws on Romney and the GOP. As this is looking like a very close election, it is important for the President to make his mark. He could do no worse than watch video footage of Julia Gillard tearing strips off Tony Abbott!

We’d all appreciate that sort of honesty as Americans prefer candor in their representatives. VegasJessie

Mitt Romney Summons All Mormons With Debate Code Words

5 Oct

Thanks to MarioPiperni.com

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is composed of the faithful who truly believe they are the God’s Chosen People. There’s an inherent sense of entitlement that comes with “god” choosing you before you were even born. God has also decided all of his chosen people are direct descendants of Israel, even those of Northern European stock. Members of the Mormon cult are convinced this, among other principles, is absolutely true, despite the irrefutable evidence to the contrary. For instance, “despite the fact that in 1966 the original Egyptian papyri that Smith used to “translate” the Book of Abraham were discovered in the New York Museum of Art, and that they definitively prove that his translation is a complete and utter fraud, Mormons still revere it as authentic scripture, written by none other than Abraham himself.” Mitt Romney has undoubtedly fallen hook line and sinker for this fantastical mythology originated by a convicted charlatan, and lives his life believing he was chosen.

Willard walked away from the October 3rd debate feeling victorious with his “performance.” He was quite the thespian and made so many antithetical claims to actual reality, one must infer he was convinced he believed his convoluted logic wholeheartedly. However, he was using secret Mormon code to round up the LDS army to get involved now. Park Romney explains:

Mitt Romney’s reference to deficits as a “moral issue” is a very significant coded signal to Mormons and the Mormon Church. Anything identified as a “moral issue” by the Church is deemed to constitute a matter that the Church should take a public position on, even where political action is involved. This is the basis of the Church’s justification of their involvement in the Proposition 8 campaign; it was the basis of the Church’s involvement, in the 80′s in opposition to the Equal Rights amendment; and this was an outspoken appeal from Mitt Romney to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for their support of his election on moral grounds. This was monumentally significant to those of us who understand the code.

He was calling on his fellow chosen ones to focus on the issue of deficits as if it’s a moral failing of the Obama Administration. It was a call for fellow Mormons to ignore the reality that Mitt himself has saddled more companies with debt while “harvesting” them for profit, resulting in massive job loss and ultimately, bankruptcy. Willard Romney, of all people, has the gall to demand action against the deficits his policies would only greatly exacerbate, which this President inherited.

Mormons view their anointed one’s performance as a sign from god he is destined to be their fearless leader. Glenn Beck, Mormon supporter of Romney, said in this video “God is trying to make this so clear for us, if this happens it is his finger.” He spoke of the debate fondly. “It was amazing… it was remarkable, I thought. I ‘tweeted’ last night after it was all said and done to remember to fall down on your knees in thanksgiving. I mean, I prayed yesterday like never before that the scales would fall from people’s eyes.

Obvious proclamations of moral obligations should alert us to Mitt’s true agenda: furthering the ambitions of the Mormon Church. After all, they consider themselves an elect breed apart and above all others, holier-than-thou in every sense of the word, the best-of-the-best spirits that god selected to be born into this world as his rulers in the last days before the second coming.
If you were not chosen, too bad. Your concerns, like those of parents who encourage their children to watch Sesame Street and other PBS programs, are insignificant to Willard Romney and he will smile to your face while stabbing you in the back, as he’s done to so many Americans already.

Bain Orders Workers: Train Your Chinese Replacements, Then Say Goodbye to Your Job

16 Sep

20120917-071554.jpg

The irony continues with the Romney campaign. His latest barrage of false attacks on President Obama are touting the recent mass exodus of jobs to China. Interestingly enough, Romney has been quite instrumental in that shameful profit-driven action. In order to protest the outsourcing of their American jobs, workers at the Freeport, Illinois Sensata Technologies Factory (a Bain subsidiary), began to camp outside the factory in protest of the venture capital firm’s decision to ship their jobs to China. They’ve labeled the tent city Bainport, in the hopes of attracting the attention of the GOP presidential candidate and current benefactor of Sensata profits, Willard Mitt Romney. Originally the company was owned by Honeywell but sold to Sensata in 2010. The employees, pleading for the very same jobs some have held for over four decades drafted a letter:

We work at Sensata Technologies in Freeport, Illinois — a company owned by Bain Capital, which you started, ran, and still profit from.

Our jobs are about to be outsourced to China. More than 150 of us will lose our jobs — and some of us have worked here for over 40 years. The worst indignity is that many of us are being asked to train the Chinese workers who are taking our jobs.

It’s not right that our good American jobs are being sent to China. It’s not right that you stand to get even richer off of our loss and pain.
We are not going down without a fight. We join together today to call on you to save our jobs.”

Workers outside “Bainport” in Freeport, Ill.

Willard and Bain worship the profit more than Mitt’s prophet and cult founder, Joseph Smith. Not only does this man have brass ones, but a heart which must have been assembled at the very factories he closes to outsource the livelihood of countless Americans. The human casualties at the hands of Bain Capital are stacking up and this is just another example.

The Sensata workers reported that management took down the American flags from the flag poles in front of the building before the Chinese delegation took a tour of the facility, and returned the flags after the Chinese left. Ironically, the protesting workers being are being labeled “communists” by Mitt Romney supporters while the factory and the job are planned for relocation in Communist China!

Tom Gaulrapp and Cheryl Randecker, employees of Sensata Technologies for 33 years went to Tampa and called upon Mitt Romney to help save their jobs. Obviously these efforts were ignored by most of the media, except for the good folks at Democracy Now!

It sure seems like Mitt is following the Karl Rove playbook to a “T”. One of his plans is this: To play the race card and appeal to the far right wing fringe of voters who are leery of an African American in the White House. Make Obama appear as if he’s the one who’s the foreigner, he’s the outsider, he’s the one who’s actually in favor of shipping jobs to China. However, Americans are no longer ignoring the harsh realities; no one is more guilty of this egregious practice than Willard Romney. It is a diabolical plan, but pesky folks like these workers in Freeport, Illinois may just put a damper on this evil strategy. I sure hope they succeed. Mitt Romney has no business being anywhere near the White House. Support the workers and visit the Bainport Site. These folks deserve a fair shot at the American Dream. Inflammatory Anti-Islamic Film Supports the Agendas of the GOP, Romney and Netanyahu

14 Sep

Tuesday, September eleventh was the eleventh anniversary of that horrible event that changed America forever. It seems it is also a catalyst to incite copycat events to create a September Surprise that can be used in favor of the GOP’s claim that President Obama is an unfit leader who is too soft on terrorism and, apparently an entire religion: Islam. The Right Wing Christian Fundamentalists have been pleading their case and the evidence these lunatics are trying to impose their perverted will on our foreign policy can be found in the who’s who list of speakers at the Value Voters Summit. One of the ardent supporters of this insane inflammatory rhetoric is Morris Sadek, Egyptian Coptic Christian and promoter of a film that has sparked anti-American riots in SEVENTEEN countries, as of today. The film is called Innocence of Muslims, and it is a movie steeped in horrible production quality, deception and hate for Islam. Sadek had a prominent role in thrusting this idiotic garbage upon the Muslim world and it seems Romney and Netanyahu are in lock step with this producer’s agenda.

Romney and Benjamin Netanyahu

Netanyahu’s criticism often undermines the Obama Administration‘s efforts to prevent a very unwise conflict with Muslim nations, especially Iran. Immediately following the attacks on the American Embassy in Benghazi, Netanyahu all too quickly jumped on the opportunity to push for a war against the Persian nation. His trusted American allies are not the elected President but, rather, his friends on the American right, the politicians, business people, and lobbyists, who are never willing to disagree with Israel at all. It has reached the point where even Netanyahu’s principal ally in sabre-rattling, the Defense Minister, Ehud Barak, has shown signs that he, too, believes the Prime Minister has gone too far. It is obvious to the world that Netanyahu is an ardent supporter of Romney, a puppet whose strings he can pull to do his Likudnik bidding.

Mitt Romney, preemptively issued criticism of the Obama Administration’s handling of the affair, citing lax security on the matter, except the embassy statement Romney referenced had been issued before protesters reached the embassy. Coincidentally, the film’s producer “Sam Bacile” (his alias) said, “I feel the security system (at the embassies) is no good…
America should do something to change it.” I’m so glad this convicted criminal (Bacile) agrees with Mitt Romney. As the saying goes, birds of a feather.  Coincidentally, the congressman in the Bacile’s district, California’s 25th, is a fellow Mormon, Buck McKeon, Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, a known warmonger.   Most Republicans have criticized these unwise comments uttered by Willard before he had all the information, but McKeon seems to be the one that concocted Romney’s statements. The riots sparked by the film are a welcome distraction from the stupidity that seems to be plaguing the Romney campaign.  However, it really does nothing to weaken the President, much to the dismay of the GOP.

If you’re not convinced this is a concerted effort to strike fear into the hearts of Americans, consider this. Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, the Neocon who should never again be trusted with any foreign policy decisions, tweeted: “The attacks on our embassies & diplomats are a result of perceived American weakness. Mitt Romney is right to point that out.”  Pretty ironic how all these criticisms of the Obama administration happened simultaneously in the wake of the violence they all predicted would ensue in the Muslim world.  It is really a sad ploy to gin up support of another war of aggression with Islam.  Now Netanyahu seems determined, more than ever, to alienate the President of the United States and, as an ally of Mitt Romney’s campaign, to make himself a factor in the 2012 election.

Exactly SEVEN WEEKS before the 2008 election, the Koch Brothers helped promote an anti-Muslim film entitled Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West.  It appears the Romney campaign along with his right wing Israeli friend are in collusion to win this White House by injecting more fear of the Islamic world and inciting a march towards an inevitable war with Iran.  The choice of exploiting a low-budget film to further their objectives makes them seem quite desperate.  History repeats itself, and it appears the outcome will be the same.  The American people will choose a diplomatic Barack Obama over a right-wing, war-obsessed, fear-mongering GOP candidate.  Willard Romney, the GOP and Netanyahu will all come out looking as foolish as they’ve behaved.

White Collar Mafia Style Bust-Outs Make Romney Very Rich

7 Sep

Unless you’ve been asleep for the last year, you know Mitt Romney was a pivotal figure in the creation and operation of Bain Capital. Willard, a.k.a. Mitt, touts this as his “private sector” experience, which undoubtedly qualifies him for the highest office in this land. He apparently feels being a man with any type of experience in the financial world is far more important than being a Constitutional Law Scholar, like our President, Barack Obama. Our President, unlike the Mormon Bishop, isn’t practiced in masterful money manipulation and debt creation. The Republican Party holds Mitt’s business acumen in such high esteem, they’re literally banking on it by throwing billions at this unsavory candidate.

I have learned of Bain’s questionable legal practices by following some of the companies raided by Willard and his gang at Bain and the tribulations faced by those whose life he destroyed. In addition to the information I’ve come across, Matt Taibbi’s Rolling Stone Article Greed and Debt: the true story of Mitt Romney and Bain Capital, and the PoliticusUSA’s (RMuse) The Vampire Squad: Meet Romney’s Bain Team that Sent Jobs Into the Twilight both elucidated aspects of Bain Capital’s corporate raider practices.

Willard Romney at Bain, hard at work undermining the American worker

The concept is called “busting out”. White collar crooks described bust-outs as “the perfect crime.” They explained that, by using existing business laws and practices as a cover, they were able to loot and pillage, then pocket the booty without fear of criminal prosecution because, as they noted, it’s not illegal to fail in American business. “So we’re lousy businessmen,” they claim when authorities, regulators or judges would ask them what happened to all the money. Vulture capitalists, not satisfied with the loot alone from these scams have their standards. And what kind of professional bust-out artist would allow big chunks of their ill-earned dough to be siphoned off by – of all people – the feds, in form of taxes? So, total tax avoidance at the end of a successful bust-out is considered mandatory in order to maintain the first rule of a well-executed bust-out: nobody gets paid, not the banks, not the creditors and certainly not the feds. Which brings us to the world of off-shore banking and countries like Bermuda or Panama come into the picture. When full autopsies are performed on the more spectacular bust-outs you almost always find the “equity partners” hiding their identities behind opaque off-shore shell corporations (such as Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors) . Even the members of the boards of directors of these smoke-and-mirror paper corporations are “proxy directors,” these are off-shore lawyers who make a living doing nothing but pretending to sit on the boards of hundreds, even thousands, of paper corporations.

We know Bain saddles failing companies with debt, and somehow profits whether the company makes it or goes bust, as in the case of Kay Bee Toys. When they see they are going to fail, the manager (CEO Michael Glazer who was also with Mitt Romney’s Stage Stores) paid himself and Bain Capital $100 million and then filed bankruptcy. Then Bain Capital is represented by the attorney of eToys (whom sold eToys to Bain Capital/Kay Bee basically for free). The one who asked to prosecute the special bust out was Paul Traub (who was the creditors attorney in eToys and was also with Romney’s Stage Stores). Simple open and shut case, where Bain owns all the parties involved. In essence, no matter where they go or how they do it, even in literal “fire sales” to themselves, they never lose and everyone else gets fried. It’s a brilliant yet extremely insidious plan.

This is surely not the type of business model that is good for America. In fact, (using Taibbi’s words) Willard Romney is “one of the greatest and most irresponsible debt creators of all time.” Matt Taibbi, Rmuse and special councel Laser Haas have only scratched the surface. There’s a lot more if we just look. If this man and his corporate backers are going to try to do this to America, it is our obligation as patriotic citizens to stop them.

Special thanks to @Laserhaas01 for his valuable assistance with the eToys Petters Fraud case.

Recent development: the case has been reopened, this time not in Delaware but in the New York Supreme Court. See:eToys IPO Suit Against Goldman Moves to NY High Court for more information. Justice will be served! Great News.
