Obama Derangement Syndrome: an Encounter

19 Apr

20120419-170034.jpg

Here’s an account of a simple encounter at a gas station. It kind of puts the opposition to our president in perspective. Not atypical of the fine human beings you may find in Las Vegas.

My mother and son went to a local gas station/car wash/convenience store. There was a large white male, heavily tatted speaking loudly on his cell phone waiting in line. When the 2 walked in, with my son wearing his Obama 2012 t-shirt, the man went ballistic. He said, “oh my god, I’m gonna be sick. This woman and her son walked in and he’s wearing a fucking Obama shirt.” Loudly, he continued, “yeah, I already ordered my Nøbama shirt.”

Obviously they weren’t about to engage this delectable creature. My son said, “wow, that’s really racist”. He came to this conclusion because he felt the man strikingly resembled a member of the Aryan Brotherhood. My mom said, “looks like someone’s watching a little too much Fox News.”. They said this in his direction and went on with their business. There’s nothing more of a colossal waste of time than trying to reason with a racist, right wing hate-monger.

From the disrespect quite apparent by the Birther Conspiracy and the pictures commonly found at a Teaparty rally (pic of Obama at Teaparty Rally) we see a level of ridicule unprecedented in this country.

I’m just glad none of the adult males in my house were present. I might be posting bail today if that were the case.

Atheists Can’t Win The Whitehouse & Why That Sucks

Thomas Jefferson 3rd US President
20120419-062556.jpg

People say this is a nation of God. It is such a predominant part of a candidate’s electability. Unfortunately, people don’t realize, most of the founding fathers were actually followers of Deism Thomas Jefferson always questioned his beliefs. He said,
“Fix Reason firmly in her seat. . . . Question with boldness even the existence of a God. . . . Do not be frightened from this enquiry by any fear of its consequences. If it end in a belief that there is no God, you will find incitements to virtue in the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise and in the love of others which it will procure for you.” I ask, how can our morals be rigidly bound by ancient texts rather than guided and modified by reason and compassion?”. This statement would terrify Michelle Bachmann. Jefferson, for merely having uttered it, would have been labeled a godless heathen & smeared out of government. Let’s face it.

Why is this the case? Why must we be believers in a book created by man based on third or fourth hand accounts of unsubstantiated pre-scientific era miracles? Watch Eyewitness Accounts of Miracles Remember, I’m not trying to be offensive. “Let me assure you that my intent is not to offend or merely be provocative. I’m simply worried.”
― Sam Harris

What’s really telling is this poll:
A 1999 Gallup poll conducted to determine Americans’ willingness to tolerate a Jewish president (Joseph Lieberman was the Democratic candidate for Vice President at the time). Here are the percentages of people saying they would refuse to vote for “a generally well-qualified person for president” on the basis of some characteristic; in parenthesis are the figures for earlier years:

Catholic: 4% (1937: 30%)
Black: 5% (1958: 63%, 1987: 21%)
Jewish: 6% (1937: 47%)
Baptist: 6%
Woman: 8%
Mormon: 17%
Muslim: 38%
Gay: 37% (1978: 74%)
Atheist: 48%
Us non-believers are the least likely to be elected. Does anyone ever consider the possibility this president or several others have maybe pretended to believe? I believe that probability is likely.

Here’s a notion to ponder:
“According to the most common interpretation of biblical prophecy, Jesus will return only after things have gone horribly awry. Imagine the consequences if any significant component of the U.S. government believed that the world was about to end and that its ending would be glorious. The fact that nearly half of the American population apparently believes this should be considered a moral and intellectual emergency.” (Sam Harris)

It is troubling for those of us without religion how our leaders believe in such things as the Rapture or an afterlife of everlasting bliss and forgiveness. In my opinion (as stated by Sam Harris) “People who harbor strong convictions without evidence belong at the margins of our societies, not in our halls of power. The only thing we should respect in a person’s faith is his desire for a better life in this world; we need never have respected his certainty that one awaits him in the next.” These people are dangerous. Their beliefs are irrational and detrimental to the here and now. Live to make this world better, not some afterlife.

Romney Camp Backs Away from Nugent After Seeking His Approval

18 Apr

Tagg Romney tweeted this: “Ted Nugent endorsed my Dad today. Ted Nugent? How cool is that?! He joins Kid Rock as great Detroit musicians on team Mitt!” This was a little over a month ago. Now, following Nugent’s incendiary remarks, Team Romney seems to do what they’ve done so often in the past. They are flip-flopping again. This time, after Nugent says “If Obama wins reelection, a year from now I’ll either be dead or in jail. See Romney Campaign Backs Away From Nugent’s Anti-Obama Remark

Nugent in 2007

Can anyone imagine if Obama had actively sought the endorsement of a controversial, albeit violence advocating celebrity? I’m sure we all remember the Jeremiah Wright controversy. The pastor spoke not directly about Obama, yet somehow our President had to explain away the opinions of someone not involved in the campaign. The double standard is quite obvious. If Obama sought out Eminem, and then he spoke about the GOP being “beheaded,” I’m sure Fox News would run it on a reel 24/7.

Jeremiah Wright

Not only is the rhetoric from the Nugent character inflammatory, but his history is quite tattered with very questionable behavior. The man has 8 children with 6 different women. He was involved with a 17-year-old in 1978 which awarded him as #63 in Spin Magazine’s 100 sleaziest rock moments. Check out Personal Life of Ted Nugent Barack Obama can’t even know someone with this type of sordid past without a scrutiny never bestowed on a president in our lifetime.

It is rather humorous how the Romney campaign can do a 180 on pretty much any and all issues/people and the GOP doesn’t bat an eyelash. I truly believe the motivation to beat Obama is just not going to be enough for this candidate. Mitt Romney is far too dirty and unlikable to convince the bigots and haters out there to get off their couches (as Chris Christie admonishes) and cast a vote for the Liberal/Moderate/Conservative Candidate of the GOP. For the sake of all those not in the 1%, I sure as hell hope I am right!

The shiftier the character, the more Mitt seeks their attention. Ted Nugent

18 Apr

Why is it permissible for Mitt to actively seek the endorsement of a violently unstable gun lunatic like Ted Nugent after saying the things he’s said as of late. He’s literally threatened beheading democrats. That’s pretty damned violent. The secret service is looking into some of his insane rantings. Delusional commentators generally worry the secret service primarily because these are unstable, violent people. Ted was courting them, literally daring them to act, and act quickly. We must mobilize and go into battle to behead the democrats this fall. This sounds to me like a provocation. Almost, an act of treason. Let’s hope the secret service kicks this guy’s treasonous ass..

This is insane, the double standard displayed prominently right in front of all of us. Romney seeks the attention of an unstable violent man and is proud. A democratic pundit who works for CNN, not the Obamas, said the absolute truth, Ann Romney hasn’t worked a day in her freaking pampered life, and she gets thrown under the bus. They are masters of deception. Machiavellian in their machinations of mental gymnastics. Let’s hope the rest of the country can see this deceptive snake oil salesman panderer for who he is….a gutless, soulless sellout to the highest bidder.

The GOP Still Pushing Epic Fail Reaganomics

17 Apr

Reaganomics, since it’s inception, has pushed a trickle down mentality. Basically, America gets the scraps the wealthy have thrown away. There is tangible evidence it does not work at ALL. See the chart at the bottom of this post

Thom Hartmann, one of the Progressive Media’s smartest guys has written countless dissertations on this. One I’ve found very helpful explaining is How Reaganomics Has Bamboozled the Poor. He shows point by point why tax cuts on the super rich SIMPLY DON’T WORK.

Proof the Republicans want to place the burden on the backs of poor people by cutting programs, eliminating earned income credit, slashing Medicare & Social Security, can be found in the Ryan Budget, a soulless, heartless and gutless document that gives loopholes & subsidies to the über rich while taking food out of poor families’ mouths.
Ezra Klein explains in The Ryan Plan Budget’s Priorities

Here is the startling evidence why this Reaganomics garbage only benefits the 1%.

Mitt Romney’s Secret Mormon Life

17 Apr

As quoted in Mitt Romney’s secret Mormon World: “The question for American voters is: knowing that Romney has taken this secret oath, that he is a faithful Mormon, do you want him to answer the question “Would you feel bound by your sacred oath to obey the law of consecration that you made in the endowment ceremony?”
Will you honor that over the promise you made to the American People to uphold the constitution under all circumstances?
Should it make a difference to you, the voter?” please read this excerpt from ex Mormon. These folks know the religion because they were insiders at one point.

These are the “garments” all good Mormons wear. Interesting how Romney tries to dodge the question about his bizarro faith. Let’s expect more dancing around this issue in the months to come.

Right Wing Common Denominator: Lives Lost

16 Apr

Essentially, the right wing truly cares little for people outside their circle of wealth. I can’t say it anymore brilliantly than Arthur R. Kamm, PhD. He writes a brilliant blog called Art on Issues. Follow him on Twitter @artonissues. This article contains the ways the GOP & their policies essentially cost lives.
Please read because increased knowledge is more ammunition against these selfish monsters. The Common Denominator of right Wing Policy: LOST LIVES

Right Wingers: Obama Assassination is Somehow Funny??

13 Apr

Even before September 2009, when Joe Wilson yells “you lie” , the Obama presidency has brought an unprecedented level of disrespect the office has yet to witness previously. He has truly been the Most Disrepected President in History
But just when you think the Right can’t stoop any lower, here comes Foster Friess, frothy Santorum’s personal billionaire. You may remember him as the ‘contraception by placing a Bayer Aspirin between the “gal’s” knees’ genius. Seems also he’s referenced the heated battle yet to ensue between “Mr. Principles” Mitt Romney and President Obama, as one where he’ll need a ‘bulletproof teleprompter’. I Hope Obama’s Teleprompter is Bulletproof? WTF? All public speakers use a teleprompter. I can speak from history that I prefer this to ‘off the cuff’ delivery. See many of the remarks uttered by “The Decider”, GWB. The nation shuddered in embarrassment while he said, “Put food on your family” among other gems.
I’m quite sick of the hatred that oozes from the racist pores of the GOP & their Confederate brethren, the Teaparty. This being said, even in jest, is the final straw. These monsters must not be allowed to ruin this country once again. I don’t think it’s funny to joke about the 1st black president being assassinated by a bullet. It’s pretty damned offensive, Foster.

It’s Not Just the Economy, Romney. Women Focus on Many Issues

13 Apr

So apparently a woman who is highly privileged, who had the luxury of staying home and raising 5 children is in the same hardship boat as a single mom trying to raise her children on a minimum wage salary? If you ask the GOP, YES. Both women’s trials are both difficult according to the Romneys. One has a full staff of servants, drivers & assistants. One has just herself. I’m sorry, but I’m not buying it. Ann Romney is a very atypical American woman. This was Hilary Rosen’s valid assertion.
What’s more insulting to women is the thought these economic diversions can make us forget their War on Women. They want America to think contraception is only for the sexually promiscuous. Married couples and singles have sex. It’s as American as beer and football. To only “do it” to procreate is a sick idea manifested by the Duggars
Women and men use contraception. Not all of us are mega wealthy, like Ann Romney, and can reproduce without worrying about the financial burden of children. Alternet, as always, gives a great take on this issue. Women are not as dumb as the GOP believes. I hope they pay DEARLY in November for this insane assumption. Romney Pulls 92.3% Figure Out of Thin Air

12 Apr

Mitt Romney, a man so unprincipled he’d throw the industry of his state and his father (AMC) right under the bus. He’s also now partial to inventing statistics. He says 92.3% of jobs lost under the Obama administration have been lost by women!. This has been deemed mostly false by Politifact. Men lost more jobs
The Daily Kos lays it out in Mitt Romney: The Anatomy of a Lie
